最近発見した面白いスペル

私は結構学校英語をしっかり勉強してきた方だと思うので、

スペルには自信があります。

しかし、ラズベリーに綴り、Pが入っていることを最近発見しました！

Raspberry 

Pは発音しないらしいですが、

なんでそこにPがあるかというと

元々はRaspis berryだったという説があるみたいです。

ここからネットから拾ってきました。

​​15～16世紀の英語には「ぶどう酒」を指す「raspis（ラスピス）」という語があり、「raspis」がラズベリーの意味として使われた例があることや、これを短縮した「rasp」がスコットランドでラズベリーを指した例があることから、ラズベリーで作った酒が「raspis（ラスピス）」と呼ばれていて、それが果実の名前になったとする説。

Since I was a good student,  I’m pretty confident in spelling.

But I didn’t know that there was P in Raspberry until quite recently.

P is not pronounced but why P is there?

According to the article I’ve read on the 

internet,  there used to be a word "Raspis"

 which means wine. 

And In Scotland, "Rasp" which is the short for Raspis was used. 

As a result, wine which is made using Raspberry was called “Raspis”

This is said to be the origin of the spell.
