パリでは毎年４月に、バゲット・コンクールが行われ、その年パリで最も美味しいバゲットが決められる。
長さ55～65cm、重さは250～300gまで、小麦粉1kgに対して塩の量が18gという細かい規定をクリアしたバゲットだけが選考対象となり、大賞は金賞、次に銀賞、銅賞と続き、10位まで選出される。
大賞を取った人には、4000ユーロの賞金と、その年一年間はエリゼ宮におさめる権利を獲得する。（※一年間の御用達）
入賞するくらいのBoulangerie のバゲットはどこも美味しいので、それらのお店に買いに行くのが非常に楽しい。
わざわざ行くには遠くても、何かのついでに足を延ばして買いに行く。色々試すと好みのバゲットが見つかったりする事も嬉しく、毎年恒例の楽しみとなっている。
