「商売繁盛、笹持ってこい。」の掛け声で有名な今宮戎神社の十日戎は、毎年1月9日から11日まで開催され、3日間で約100万人もの参詣者で賑わいます。この十日戎に合わして、大阪ミナミで開催される伝統行事が宝恵駕行列です。これは江戸時代元禄年間に芸妓衆が派手に飾った駕籠をくり出して今宮戎神社に参詣したことが嚆矢とされます。芸妓衆だけでなく、時代時代の有名人も加わり、最盛期には百挺もの駕籠がその華麗さを競いあったといいます。その伝統は引き継がれ、芸能人、スポーツ選手、文楽の人形、福娘の参加を得て、今年も「宝恵駕、宝恵駕」の掛け声とともに戎橋から今宮戎神社までを華やかに練り歩きます。
Imamiya-Ebisu Shrine's Toka-Ebisu festival famous for the call "Thriving business. Bring your bamboo' leaves." is held every year from Jan. 9th to 11th. In these three days, about 1 million people visit. For this festival, there is a traditional parade called Ho-E kago line at Minami in Osaka. They started from Edo period Genroku era when Geisya girls made a fancy decorated kago (like a big basket to carry people) and worshipped the shrine. Nowadays, not only Geisya girls but also famous people join the parade, too. In the peak period, it is said one hundred kagos competed in their beauty. This tradition is handed down and this year celebrities, athletes, traditional Japanese Bunraku puppets and Fukumusume (good fortune girl selected) walked from Ebisu-bashi to the shrine, too.
