Central Brandon Marshall Jersey Texas about to get second area code

Existing telephone customers will be able to keep their numbers, but as of June 2013, everyone would have to dial 10 digits to make a local call, according to a plan unveiled Wednesday by the Public Utility Commission of Texas.

The change reflects Central Texas' fast growing population and the explosion in multiple phones, particularly cellphones, for Matt Forte Women Jersey Austin area households.

Only 7.92 million phone numbers can be assigned in any given area code, according to the utility commission, because prefixes beginning with zero or 1 are not used. www.nflbearsofficial.com/Nike-Robbie-Gould-Jersey.html Special numbers, such as 411 or 911, also are not used as area codes.

The 737 area code would be given to new customers, beginning in July 2013, just months before the last 512 numbers are expected to be assigned.

After Matt Forte Navy Jersey that overlap period ends, a 512 number would only be available if a customer had relinquished a phone number and it was reassigned to someone else.

The 737 area code would be overlaid over the same geographic boundaries covered by the 512 number. That includes all or part of 19 counties.

Austin's 512 area code dates to 1947, according Brandon Marshall Kids Jersey to the utility commission, when that area code covered South Texas, including San Antonio and Corpus Christi. Additional area codes were created as the state's population increased.

Austin joins Dallas, Houston and Northeast Texas as the only areas in the state that have multiple area codes for the same geographic area. Dallas was first, in 1998, according to the utility commission.

Prior to that, geographic areas were split when a new area code was necessary, forcing citizens in some communities to change their phone numbers. For example, in 1997 San Antonio kept its 210 area code, while the region around it was assigned new area codes.

"By far, the overlay is considered the least painful," said utility commission spokesman Terry Hadley. "You get to keep your number."

He said it is particularly important to business owners who don't want to lose a number that they have spent time and money promoting to the public.

The three utility commissioners will convene a meeting May 17 to hear public comments and answer nflbearsofficial.com/Nike-Jared-Allen-Jersey.html questions before voting on the change at a later date.
