PROUD OKINAWAN
今年は 10月26日 スタートでしたけど 自分の ライブ があって、さいごの クロージング セレモニー だけ 間に合えました。本当に すごくて、びっくりしました！ 色んな 国 から 人が集まって みんなの 沖縄 プライド でとっても感動しました。
小さいころから、色んな 沖縄 の 事 学びました でも この 大会は はじめて でした。これぐらいな 凄さがあると思わなかった！でも サスガ ウチナンチュー！
お母さん と お父さん が 色んな 沖縄 かんけいな事(沖縄 おどり、たいこ、さんしん、からて)を させて 本当に 感謝です。
Took a suuuuper last min the trip to Okinawa to attend the WORLDWIDE UCHINANCHU FESTIVAL in which tens of thousand of us Okinawans gather from all over the world for about a week of cultural festivities and only takes place once every 5 years.
Although I was only able to make it for the Closing Ceremony (10/30/16), my eyes got to see something they've never seen before, my heart felt something it has never felt before. I have always been very immersed in the culture thanks to my parents; growing up doing Okinawan music, karate, dance, sanshin, and taiko...and as I got older, my appreciation grew. However, today, I say "I AM PROUD TO BE OKINAWAN" with a new meaning; I say it from a different, deeper place in my heart.💓.
It was so nice seeing soooo many familiar faces from back home. Thousands of people Hawaii went up to represent!!! Such a short trip... But nothing short of amazing memories I will forever cherish. Thank you to Okinawa and my Okinawan Ohana for this experience.
