Anyway, went to "Crown Prince Fine Dining and Banquet" (紫京盛宴) for lunch today. My driving lesson got postponed for Wednesday morning (still on strike; hoping my test will be pushed after midterm week 'cause that's when it is :S), and my mom had to go for a bone density test this morning. Just bummed around in the morning, installing Joomla for my website project...

紫京盛宴 opened just this week, so my parents decided to try it out. It's in our neighbourhood (Victoria Park & McNicoll) and it's actually been a while since we went somewhere other than Diamond for dim sum, haha.

Turns out that Irene works there now - she used to work at Diamond Banquet Hall, and then Wok On Yonge - and we got a 10% discount, har har har. They totally pimped out the restaurant! I remember going there once a few times it was still New World Restaurant (新世界). Compare then and now... 新世界 looked run-down... 紫京盛宴's decorations were so pristine...

Food-wise, I thought the prices would be the same as Casa Imperial's (名門金宴) - but I only went there once with Alisa and Lucia in Grade 12 (lol, dim sum with my chemistry group). I'm not sure if they're the same, but here they are:

- Tea (per person) - $0.50
- Small - $2.80
- Medium - $3.80
- Large - $4.80
- Extra Large - ??? unknown, we didn't get anything of this size
- Jumbo - $10.00

Apart from the jumbo size, the prices seemed reasonable. The jumbo size was for the deep-fried wontons that my mom got...

For once, my dad didn't complain about the 蝦餃 being over-cooked/steamed. He usually starts nagging if he sees that it's been overdone. +1. :P

Service-wise, it's typical of Chinese restaurants. The bathrooms are nicely done too.

Momma and pops...

Pops going over the Wedding Menu? My mom joked about having my wedding banquet there. >__>;;

Overall, I'd say the place is ok for dim sum. I think it's more targeted to people who think 名門金宴 is too expensive but also want good food (though, it's run by the same people). We'll see how it turns out in the future...

p.s. Whitney Houston's new album is really good. I never really listened to her songs (except the ones on the radio), but I think this is a good come-back album. I was listening to Million Dollar Bill and my mother cracked a joke about how it should be labelled as "Million Dollar DRUG". Silly mother. But, really, Million Dollar Bill is a very nice song. It doesn't really show off her vocals, but it's got a nice tune. ;)
