I'm Carl Bedio, Grade 12 STEM 2 of IPSA and here is why teachers deserve more credit than what they already get.
At this time of a pandemic, we lose access at some parts we used to have or do. But there is a thing that is very important
and that helps us keep growing, Which is education. Despite the situation, education should always remain its quality when it comes
to learning as it is everyones' right to have quality education. With that in mind, while we are studying and still growing at this time,
many issues still arise.
For example, the issue of Academic freeze came up. But in reality, it should be an option especially at this time. There are many factors to why it shouldn't be freezed but i won't give it too much detail. I would like to talk about how teachers, especially at this time, deserve way more than what they get. Even if they have to teach and speak their voices especially during an online class as everyone is adjusting to a new learning environment, some would probably get tired but one thing is that they still maintain to deliver great teaching performance for their students, it shows the beauty of education. Professionalism as one would say, even though they teach countless times infront of a screen and outside school they also do things with their devices, they remain professional and convey what they wanna convey to the students for them to grow and learn which i think is beautiful.
Though there are many problems in the situation of an online class, conflicts are still given light and alot of misconception arises. For example, i saw this post of my former School's Teacher/Guidance Counselor talking about what a Governor of Cagayan Province said. The governor said that teachers are enjoying online classes, they are enjoying it in their own comfort to the point that they don't deserve a raise in their salary since they don't even do anything, That's why teachers shouldn't complain according to him which made me really frustrated.
The fact that he generalized the situation in an online class is very surprisingly bad, he didn't even think twice of what he was saying and how it would affect or even offend the people especially the ones' who are having a hard time adjusting to a new learning environment. He assumed the situation of the teachers' and education like that easily when infact he hasn't seen even one part of it yet at the current, he misconceptualized a situation in to something very disappointing.
With that in mind, that should be a living proof of someone who doesn't try to put their selves into others' shoes. Everyone right now is having a hard time but is adjusting in a good way gradually as time goes by. I have high respects for teachers who continues to serve and be themselves despite other comments they could probably receive. Teachers deserve way more credit than they already have because they continue to be more flexible and adjust to what's new even with mixed reactions, they always find ways, when they teach, they are present at the moment and continues to be aware of their surroundings and what they do.
