Yesterday was my birthday

Weather was nice, except in the evening, because it rained heavily.

I made some muffins. Actually they should have been Marsala Muffins, but I used Sherry, so I can use the rest of the bottle for cooking The cooking book also said, to use six eggs, which I thought would be too much, so I reduced it to four. I even replaced the raisins for cranberries. I made something totally different muffin than in the recipe But they were tasty...luckily.

The phone was ringing all the time, but one person forgot to congratulate me I hope he has a good excuse.

And my parents forgot to send the package. Let's see if I will get my present later or to my next birthday

Good I got some present for myself.

And finally I got a Laibach CD. ( www.youtube.com/watch?=v-DJrNSLOsPM )It is a kind of best of, which is perfect, since it is my first Laibach CD. I was amazed by them, when I saw them live in 2009, even though I did not know who they are, since I went to the concert to see Juno Reactor. Shame on me



In the afternoon, Nikky and a friend from uni visited me. It was fun and we talked a lot.

I got a travel guide for Singapore. Hopefully I am going to pass my exam, so I can also go one day to Singapore.

And now the presents by Nikky and Tsuka It is so much and I am very, very happy
First of all, a lot of chocolate. Chocolate is always awesome



Then the DespairsRay and TheMicroHead4n's merchandise. The Karyu card is really cute. It's saying "Hey, I'm a Karyu and this is crazy but I'm your darling, so love me baby" And the photoset is signed. First, I did not realize it, but when I had a look at it later, my heart was beating in joy. Nikky and Tsuka are just wonderful The small bottle is glue for knee-high stockings from Japan, so that they don't slip down. There is nothing more annoying concerning knee-high stockings, which slip to your ankle

Unfortunately Nikky could not stay for dinner. We went to an Indian restaurant. The mango lassi wasn't that good. Somehow it was a bit salty in taste However the mango lamb was delicious. I tried once mango chicken in Leipzig, but this one was better, since they used more spices and the mango was slightly raw, so that the taste is a little sour.

Later at home we had some tea and at 1.30 am, the "birthday party" was over.

back from "vacation"

I am back from my vacation. Actually you can't call it vacation, because I had to do my training and write my essay.

But first of all, on the 6th of July I went to the Symphonic Fantasies concert in Cologne. It was really fantastic. They played the game music of square enix, especially of Kingdom Hearts, Final Fantasy and Crono Cross. The composers of the Soundtrack of Kingdom Hearts and Crono Cross were very kind and had an autograph session. The music differs a bit to classical music and the orchestra tried to have some show elements like opening an umbrella, when there was the sound of rain. So if anyone is into gaming soundtracks should go there next year.

Then my training started. Since I had already been to a court and to a law chamber I wanted to try an administration office or a company. Unfortunately most of them were on vacation, so it was impossible to do my training. However luckily I could do my training at the Industry and Commerce Chamber. In the end it was a good choice, because I was able to use my knowledge concerning European and International law, which is my elective course. I had also the opportunity to go to different seminars concerning custom dutys and tariffs. It was interesting and I enjoyed it, while people next to me were becoming desperate. Maybe it was because I am already used to the structures of laws. Nevertheless, the most interesting part was, that the responsible administration office is of the opinion, that a solid low noise fridge, which is in a submarine, is a military device, even though, the BGH said, that it is not true. Maybe I should ask that administration office if I can do my internship at their place, if they always do what they want. It sounds like fun.

I also wrote my essay about emergency provisions in the German and Indian Constitution and I have to confess, that my time management went totally wrong. I wanted to finish months ago, but then my training started and when I am at my family's place I also want so be with them and not always in front of the screen and behind books. Especially common law books are quite boring, because they always refer to the courts, but the authors don't have an own opinion. That's why in every book was written the same. I don't know how I could through around 30 books. Maybe it was because of the great book of Kelsen "Wer ist Hüter der Verfassung?". It was full of aggression against Carl Schmitt. In particular it was the wording he used, i.e. "And now we know what Schmitt was thinking. Noting, just noting!" In combination with a soundtrack of Siechtum, Nachtmahr, Fabrik C, Skyla Vertex and Suicide Commando it was inspiring to write my essay. Let's see, what my professor is thinking about it.

On my way back, I had to wait 2 hours in Kassel and everybody, who has been to Kassel-Wilhelmshöhe knows, that this railway station is no fun. There is just one bakery, one McDonalds and one kiosk. And actually I am not found of music magazines, because usually they are not worth the money. I had the choice between sonic seducer and orkus. I would have preferred orkus, but the calendar was not my cup of tea and nobody on the CD is familiar to me. So I took the sonic seducer one and hell yeah, it was the wrong choice. It was a special edition with rankings. now I know, that I listen to Depeche Mode clones (And one), bad live acts (Suicide Commando), lovers of parody (L'Ame Immortelle), woman music aka future pop (VNV Nation), strange music (NDH) and bad cover versions (Laibach) and I should go for mental check-up (J-Rock). However people like Tokio Hotel and Lady Gaga are also ranked. I never knew, that they were doing dark music. The whole magazine was actually a parody itself. Complaining about Nachtmahr and having an advertisement for a party with Nachtmahr as leading line up on the next page or complaining about future pop and putting VNV Nation on the CD. So I am supposed to listen to bad music? At least the CD was good. I liked especially Diskonnekted feat. GNY "Dark Place", some nice harsh Dupstep. Not like Alex Clare's Mainstream-Dupstep. However every song on that CD has the word "dark" in its title. That's not clichéd at all. Even Blutengel was mentioned in that magazine. I always have to laugh, when I listen to them singing about being a vampire. And in the ranking for the most liked movies Orange Clockwork was mentioned twice. I think, it should be sufficient to watch that movie once. My fazit: Never by a music magazine again or I will really try orkus next time.

Today my package arrived.

Actually it arrived already yesterday, put the postman rang the bell at 9 am and there is no way I am opening the door only dressed in a sleeping suit.

I tried to get it yesterday evening, but the woman at the counter told me to come again tomorrow.

The line was huge, since it is Saturday.

However now I have my package.

It is an old album and the new one.


I was a bit concerned, because on the website it was written, that it is the limited CD, but I had to pay only half the price as according to amazon or infrarot.

But it is the limited one with the autographs.

Her signature is a bit blurry, but never mind, since I actually adore Thomas Rainer more.

I know, that concerning, that Karyu is a musician I adore very much, it is a funny combination.

No wonder people tell me, that I have a strange taste sometimes.

First I was also thinking about buying "Fragmente" instead of "Momente", since especially the electronic arrangements are very powerful.

Unfortunately I think, that the acoustic arrangements are a bit too soft.

The two sides are really like fire and water.

In the package emp also send their catalogue, so I buy more.

And some coasters for beer made out of cardboard.

Is this the rock star feeling?

Student of Gießen lost in University Frankfurt

Today I went to Frankfurt, since some books and magazines, which I need for my essay are not available at the moment.

Of course I checked before hand, how to get there and I really went the way they told to do.
Ok, I had a stop at Pizza Hut, because I was hungry, but that doesn't count.
So I went from the main railway station with the underground to Hauptwache and further to Holzhausenstraße. When I arrived there, there was no sign of the University.
That's why I looked around for signs. On none was written, how to get to the University.
Fortunately I found a sign, which showed the direction of the German Central Bank.
Since I remembered, that one is able to see the IG Farben House from the Dewey & LeBoeuf Office, which is situated in a Skyscraper near to the German Central Bank, I just followed the sign.
After some time I finally arrived at the campus.
Though I was quite confused to be able to see the building of the Deutsche Bank.
In fact with the description of the University, I had gone in triangle, because the Deutsche Bank is located between the main railway station and Hauptwache.

First I was impressed of the campus, because it is huge and it has it's own park with many trees and plants.
Since the buildings are in neoclassicism style, they also look very modern.
Unfortunately every building has got the same sandstone colour.
I would have expected some colours, since it is the IG Farben House (Farben [germ.] = colours).
Actually I was already happy, that I managed to find the campus.
I hadn't thought, that the big challenge was sill waiting.
Find the right building

They had a map of the campus, but my orientation is not the best and I am still of the opinion, that the map is not quite right, since I was sent later in a totally different direction.
Well, somehow I ended up at the main building.
When I entered, I asked the security man (WTH do they need a security man at an University?), how to get to the library for law and economics.

"Entschuldigen Sie, ich suche das juristische Seminar" (common word for the library for law)
"Bitte was?"
"Äh..Die Zweigbibliothek für Jura und Wirtschaft"
"....Sie meinen wohl die Bibliothek für Wirtschaft und Rechtswissenschaften" (it's not like Jura and Rechtswissenschaften has the same meaning)
"Genau"
"Ja, da müssen Sie hier durch, dann links am House of Feenanschhh.....Das Haus der Finanzen..vorbei und dann sehen Sie rechts eine Treppe. Die hoch und dann immer gerade aus." (....I understand English, even if you talk to me in English with a German-Hesse dialect)
"Danke"

"Excuse me, I am searching the judicial seminar" (common word for the library for law)
"I'm sorry?"
"Eh..the branch library for jura and economics" (jura= German word for law, deducted of the Latin word ius)
"....Oh, you mean the library for economics and law" (It's not like Jura and law have the same meaning)
"Yes"
"Then you have to go through the building, left at the House of Feenanschhh..Das Haus der Finanzen...and on the right side you will see a staircase. Then you just have to go straight. (...I understand English, even if you talk to me in English with German-Hesse dialect)
"Thank you"

So I went across the building through the cafeteria. (Do I get any experience points, if I finish a task?)
This was not a normal university cafeteria. It remembers me more of a good cafeterias, which you would find down town.
After I followed his description I was lost again, because there was more than one building.
So I asked two boys in front of the house of finance.
I really don't know I they had just returned from a trip to Hawaii or if they go to the solarium.
However their skin colour didn't look healthy.
Finally I arrived at the library.

At first I was searching for the toilette, since I had too much coffee today.
When I wanted to wash my hands, a girl was standing in front of me and...no joke...she stood there for nearly 3 minutes and put her hair in order.
Well, actually her hair looked like see came straight from the hairdresser, while mine were in disorder, since it was a bit stormy outside.
No wonder most of the people think, law students are snobs and me, as a law student, wearing black trousers, high heels and a yellow t-shirt felt under dressed.
It really calls for going the next time with my south park t-shirt there.

Next task: Get a locker
Usually you are not allowed to take your jacket and your bag into the library, so you put your things into the lockers.
At my University they have lockers, where you can bring your own lock or you use coins.
Some people also just dump their things in front of the library, which I wouldn't recommend.
Here, they have high-tech lockers, which you can only use with the student card.
And since it is not my University I don't have that card.
So I went to the information point.
He told me, that I could get a guest card, but I should be beware, to do not leave money, mobile phone, laptop or keys in the locker, since there a criminal gangs and drug addicts, who rob. (At my University, we also keep our laptops in the library and go to the canteen, since it is quite save over there)
He also told me, that if they don't have any guest card left, I could go to the law building and use one of the lockers, which use a pin code.
However about 100 lockers over there are out of order. ( I had the feeling, that he was happy, that someone asked him for some information)
I just thought, WTH, hopefully, they have a guest card left for me.

...They had none for me, but the woman told me, that I am able to get a permanent card online.
Since I wasn't in the mood anymore to search now the law building, I went home...wait, I got a bubble tea first and then went home.

Sooo..in the end, I went to Frankfurt to eat at Pizza Hut and to get a bubble tea. (The one at nomnom is more tasty than the one at micha)

Strasbourg

Finally I have found some time to upload the photos from Strasbourg.

Actually I also wanted to upload some photos of me, but my hair cut is way to annoying, so you have to wait until I get my new haircut, which would be around Christmas and New Year,

Well...

So first we went to the European Court of Human Rights.



At first I thought, what an ugly building, but after they explained to us, that it should symbolise a scale, I liked it.

This is it, how it looks from inside.

It is quite modern, so you don't actually feel like in a court.

A judge explained everything to us. She was very nice and gave a lot of examples to make sure, that everyone will able to understand.

Next to the European Court of Human Rights you will find the Parliament of the European Union.

Unfortunately we didn't visit it, too. Since it is next to the water, they wanted a building with the shape of a ship. Well, maybe with a lot of imagination...



After our visit to the European Court of Human Rights, we went to eat something.

Food is quite expensive compared to Germany, but the food is good, even if some spices are missing.

Later on, we went to the European Council.



It is a quite old building.

And even though it is lovely from the inside, they put us in a conference room, which was painted in an ugly green from the 70's. Also the man, who explained everything to us, talk very monotone and since we were awake since 3 am and we were at the council at about 4 pm, we had a hard time to do not fall asleep.

Very special about the building is, that you can find everywhere the number 12 like the twelve pillars. It's a symbol for harmony and unity.

After our programme was done, we went to the Christmas market.

Since they were still preparing everything, we went in to a café to have some cake and coffee.

I have never seen an apple pie with puff pastry, but it was lovely.

And my French is enough to order something to eat.

Thanks to 4 years French in school.

We also went to a pub. Since beer was pretty expensive, 2.60 € for a very small glass, which could have been 0,2 l and I don't like beer, I got myself a red wine, which was delicious.

It was a very nice excursion.
