先週から2学期が始まり、既に授業の予習復習に追われています。
また、当地でのピアノのレッスンも始まり、休職中ではあるものの日々忙しい生活を過ごすことが出来ています。
さて、前回のBlogに書いた通り、2023年（1月〜12月）は色々なところに旅したこともあって、JALマイレージがサファイアステータスとなり、晴れてJAL Global Clubに加入することができました。
特に意識していたわけではなかったものの、年央までに日本や欧州各国への出張、Privateでの旅行等でいい感じにFLY ONポイントも貯まってきたので、2023年12月に大学院の課題を全て片付けた後に旅行でOne Worldの航空会社を意図的に使い、2023年末にサファイアステータスとなりました。
今回は、昨年2023年のフライト実績を掻い摘みたいと思います。
まず、2023年1月〜3月は、一切旅行をせず。JALカード決済のマイルのみが貯まりました。
次に、2023年4月〜6月は、（1）4月に大学・会社同期の友人の披露宴に出席するため日本にJALで帰国（エコノミーからマイルを使ってビジネスにランクアップ）、（2）5月に会社の後輩を訪ね、UAE/ドバイに。エミレーツで。（3）6月に大学院の授業の関係で、南ア/Cape Townに。BAで。長時間のフライトだったのでプレエコで行きました。これが初めてのアフリカ大陸旅行でした。
2023年7月〜9月は、私の帰任も決まっていたので（1）8月に両親を欧州に呼び、St Andrewsでゴルフをすべく、まずはヘルシンキまでお迎え。フィンエアーで。（2）9月にBordeauxで開催されたMedocマラソン（彼此今回が4回目です）に参加。エールフランスで。尚、タイムは自己ベストを更新できず。（3）その他、欧州内出張がいくつかありました。
2023年10月〜12月は、（1）10月に帰任と休職の挨拶で、日本へ一時帰国。JALで。帰りはカタール航空を使いましたが、（無知だったため）マイル積算対象外のエコノミーチケットでの帰国となり加算なし。（2）12月は大学の先輩、会社の同僚に会うべくアメリカ/NYに。BAで。（3）アメリカから帰国後、エストニア/タリンに。フィンエアーで。前回の駐在でラトビア/リガを訪問していたので、今回の訪問でバルト三国は残すところリトアニアのみとなりました。（4）大晦日に日本に帰国。大晦日発着便が一番安かったから。JALとフィンエアーのコードシェア便で。運行はフィンエアーでしたが、エコノミークラスにはあまり日本人もおらず、快適に過ごせました。JALで帰国するよりもコスパが良いかもしれません。
結果、2023年実績は、搭乗回数23回（内、JALグループ便8回）、54,044 FLY ONポイント（内、JALグループ便34,491 FLY ONポイント）となり、サファイアステータスへ到達し、JGCへ加入する運びとなりました。
メリットは、手荷物預入の個数が増えること、ビジネスクラスラウンジを使えることなのでしょうかね。
2024年は日本との往復もそこまで多くないと思いますし、また2024年からJGC加入のための条件も変更となったらしいので、私にとっては都合が良かったのかもしれません。
2023年は上記以外にもルーマニアやイスラエル、エジプト、トルコ、ジョージアにも行っていますが、スターアライアンス系列（主にルフトハンザとエーゲ）を使用しました。ANA本体を使っていないのでステータスはBronzeのままです。強いて挙げるなら、2024年以降はカードを切りまくってステータスを上げることに励むのでしょうか。
いずれにしましても、大学院卒業まであと半年となったので勉学を第一に頑張ります。

The second semester started last week, and I am already busy with class preparation and review.
I also started piano lessons this week, and although I am on a sabbatical leave, I can lead a busy life every day.
As I wrote in my previous blog, I travelled to many places in 2023, and as a result, my JAL mileage status became Sapphire, and I was able to join the JAL Global Club.
Although I was not particularly conscious of it, I had accumulated a good amount of FLY ON points by mid-year through business trips to Japan and European countries, private travel, etc.
I intentionally used One World Airlines for travel after finishing all my MBA assignments in December 2023, and at the end of year, I became Sapphire status.
In this blog today, I would like to show my flight record in 2023.
1. First, from January to March 2023, I did not travel at all; only miles from JAL card payments were accumulated.
2. Second, from April to June 2023, I (1) flew back to Japan by JAL in April to attend a wedding reception of a friend from my university and company (upgraded from economy to business class using miles), and (2) went to UAE/Dubai by Emirates in May to visit a junior colleague at work. (3) In June, I flew to Cape Town, South Africa, with a BA for an MBA module. It was a long flight, so I flew with Premium Economy class. This was my first trip to the African continent.
3. From July to September 2023, I was also scheduled to return to my home country, so (1) I invited my parents to Europe in August and picked them up first in Helsinki to play golf at St Andrews. I flew with Finnair. (2) I participated in the Medoc Marathon in Bordeaux in September (this is my 4th time) by Air France. I was not able to beat my best. (3) In addition, there were several business trips within Europe.
4. From October to December 2023, (1) In October, I temporarily returned to Japan by JAL to greet my colleagues for my sabbatical leave. I used Qatar Airways for the return trip on an economy ticket, which is not eligible for mileage accumulation (due to my ignorance). (2) In December, I flew to New York to meet a colleague/friend from my university and company. (3) After returning from the U.S., I flew to Estonia/Tallinn by Finnair. Since I had visited Latvia/Riga during my previous secondment in Europe, this visit left me with Lithuania as the only remaining Baltic country. (4) Returned to Japan on New Year's Eve. I took a code-share flight between JAL and Finnair because it was the cheapest flight on New Year's Eve. Finnair operated it, but there were not many Japanese in the economy class, and it was totally comfortable.
As a result, in 2023, I have flown 23 times (including 8 JAL Group flights), earned 54,044 FLY ON points (including 34,491 FLY ON points on JAL Group flights), reached Sapphire status, and finally joined JGC.
The benefits are the increased baggage allowance and access to business class lounges.
I don't think I will be flying to and from Japan that often in 2024, and I heard that the requirements to join JGC have changed from 2024, so it may have been convenient for me.
In 2023, I flew to Romania, Israel, Egypt, Turkey, and Georgia in addition to the above, but used Star Alliance Airlines (mainly Lufthansa and Aegean). I did not use ANA itself, so my status is still Bronze.
If I had to guess, after 2024, I would probably work hard to improve my status by using ANA cards a lot.
In any case, I have only half a year left until I graduate from MBA school, so I will do my best to study first and foremost.
