Well, this is my first blog. Here is a little about myself...
Myself:
My name is Steven, and I live in Brooklyn, New York. I was born and raised in Brooklyn and love every second about it. There is something very special about Brooklyn that not many boroughs have. It seperates you from the rest of the world. I would say it places you in the ELITE status of smart and witty! (something you don't see too much around). I am half Chilean and half Peruvian.
My Family:
I am married to a beautiful Japanese wife named Miki and we have 3 beautiful children together.
My Past Career:
I served in the U.S Army for about 13 years. I served honorably and decided to leave in 2012 because I found my priorities in life. Family First! I served in many places, but my last duty station was in the Kanagawa Prefecture of Japan.
My Current Career:
I currently work at a place called the Subway Inn. It is located in New York City. It is a very famous Bar. The Bar has been around since 1937. So many famous people have come to visit and spend their time here. As a matter of fact, one of the biggest celebrities to come on a regular basis was Marilyn Monroe. Many people wonder how I ended up in the bar and restaurant business and my answer is simple. My dad asked me to work for him. That's right! My father owns the bar. He took over after the original owner died. His name was Charlie Ackerman. I said yes to my father and my new journey began. We recently moved locations about 2 New York City blocks away next to the Queens Borough Bridge. We have been located here for a little over 2 years. We had to move because a big company bought the entire block and did not want any small businesses around. So after we open my father wanted me to run the business and so I did. It was a learning experience but I am always up for the challenge. I learned quickly because my father taught me well. Little did I know that my father was sick. He ended in the hospital and never left until he passed away. My father "Marcelo" had passed away 19 months after opening the new location. What a depressing moment it was for me and the family. I had to be strong for me and the family. I knew what I had to do. My father wanted me to take care of the family and the bar. Again, it’s a family ran and owned bar. Now my mother "Patty" is the current owner and I now work for her. She trusts me with everything because my father has taught me everything. So on the business side, she has no worries. My older brother and cousin still work at the bar. They have been working at the bar for more than 12 years. So I guess I am the new guy. There is so much more to talk about and would love to talk more about it. But, this is my story for now!
The reason I am starting this blog is because I have to much insight to offer to the Japanese people. When I was in Japan, everyone was so nice to me and helped me with everything. Now it is my turn to do the same.
