彼女のアルバムに初めて出会ったのは、私がまだ16歳くらいの頃だった。


あれから10年以上経った今も変わらず魅了し続けられているアーティストの一人。


もう55歳だっていうのに、常に期待を裏切らず素直に私を喜ばせてくれる。


NYに住んでいた頃、一度会った事がある。


とても優しくまるで友達のように話してくれて、ハグまでしてくれた。


大好きだった沢山のアーティストに今まで出会ったが、


普段は全くミーハーでない私もこの時ばかりは、ただの１、ファンだった。


そんな素敵な思い出。


今までpunk,new wave,Indian music,jazz...と様々なジャンルのアルバムを出している彼女が


今度は、ゴスペル・アルバム、Personal Jesusを出した。


現代の音楽にあまり興味のない私にとって、NEW ALBUMを買いに行けるこの嬉しさ。












シンガーという言葉を軽々しく使うのではなく、


彼女のようなパワーのある声を持っている人にこそに使うべきではないだろうか。
