How To Play The World Of Warcraft Auction House:

"I hope everyone enjoyed my 5 part series where I chronicled exactly what I bought and sold over a 5 day period. Now I know it wasn't the most exciting reading, but that really wasn't my goal. My goal was to provide everyone, no matter what stage they were in, with good information and tips to help them out. For absolute beginners it was good to show them that yes it cane be done, and here is a step by step walk through of how it's done. For people trying it out but not yet experts it helped to show some very good items to target, as well as some bad items to stay away from. Finally for pro's it showed a few very specific items that you may have not have known to look for. That's not even counting the stuff I bought during the time that hadn't sold yet. After the 5th day I have sold about 917.37 gold worth of that stuff, including the Patern: Netherdrake Gloves for 572.65 gold and the Formula: Enchant Weapon - Superior Striking for 189 gold. If you add that to the total profits you get roughly 2,619,63 gold Not bad for 5 days of buying and about 6-7 days of selling. Much less time consuming then doing the roughly 240 daily quests you'd need to do make around that much. Now for some final thoughts: For the most part I made the majority of my money from Blue (Rare) Weapons, Armor, and Trinkets as well as Green (Uncommon) Blue (Rare), and Purple (Epic) crafting patterns. Those are the markets I know best so that is what I stuck too. Don't count out the commodities markets though, usually the profit margin isn't as high but if you really study the markets and learn them then as the old saying goes you make up for the lack of profit margins with volume.

Word of warning though, they can be vary volatile, especially with enchanting materials. Still there is money to made there. I saw a ton of green weapons and armors in my searches and I avoided almost 95% of them. Most of these ""deals"" are crap. I'd highly advise you to stay away from the vast majority of them. Only ones I usually jump on are the super cheap ones that are level 19,29,39 and have agility, stamina, or intellect. I also saw a lot of common items that vendors sell, like mining picks, rune thread, rough arrows, etc... stay away from these too. Green patterns and recipes can be huge money makers as most people see green and think they are worthless when in reality some are quite rare. The ones to stick to are Enchanting, Jewelcrafting, and Alchemy. Most of the other ones are worthless, especially Blacksmithing. There are some exceptions though, like Robes of Arcana for tailoring and a few engineering ones like Gobin Jumper Cables XL. These can be a huge source of income if you learn which ones are worthwhile and which are worthless. Blue weapons and armor were my bread and butter in terms of making gold. Always do a manual search for rare weapons and armor every time you scan just to make sure you don't miss something. wow gold As I have said earlier stay away from stuff with Spirit on them as well as stuff with Resistance on them, most of the time these two stats aren't sought after in lower level characters. If you are unsure make sure to check wowhead and wowecon. Be careful of higher level blues as most of them will have huge deposits. wow gold Especially weapons. I tend to stay away from them. One thing I haven't really touched on is pricing.

I pretty much always undercut without many exceptions. mp3 For a lot of the stuff I list I know that the market is limited, for example how many people each day are looking for a random axe in level 45-50 range. Probably not many so if there are 2 other people selling the same axe as me, I want to make sure mine sells at the first possible opportunity. I'd rather move units then re-list the same thing over and over trying to get an extra couple of gold for it. wow gold That's just my prerogative though, I've seen people make money do the exact opposite, but that's not my style. Of course sometimes it's better to just sit on an item and wait for the competition to sell before listing your item instead of undercutting and making a tiny profit. In regards to setting the actual price when I do list something with no competition I almost always go with the auctioneer recommended price. buy wow gold Also don't become married to a price. If something isn't selling don't be afraid to lower the price until it does sell. Sometimes it's better to cut your losses and get of something then it is to keep paying the deposit over and over. One last thing I haven't touched on is using the Trade Chat Channel to buy and sell things. wow gold I personally don't like it. I find that if I list a price, even if it is under the actual market price, people will always say it is too high and argue with you about it. If you don't set a price be prepared to be low balled and annoyed.

Arena Season 4: How did you do?

"It looks like the economy is beginning to settle down after the initial rush for Season 4 gear. I’m sure there’s a bit of fluctuation left to go before I’d consider the market stable again, so no need to rush getting rid of everything you invested in for the new arena season. You still have time. I found it interesting that the motes and primals went up quite a bit more percentage-wise than Void Crystals and Greater Planar Essence. I still have a few stacks of Void Crystals to dump and fortunately the prices are still high enough to make a good profit after AH fees. I was a little frantic before Season 4 trying to gather up all the cheap enchanting materials and took about 2k gold in loans from friends. They’re all paid off and I’m sitting at about 2,300 gold and double that in items to sell. It was a success for me and I did well considering it was the first time I’ve taken advantage of the new-area-season inflation. How did you do with Season 4. Leave a comment and let us know how much profit (or loss, but I sure hope not) you ended up with. We’d love to hear! Arena Season 4 is right around the corner Not only does this mean new, badass gear for the hardcore PVPers (Spartan helmets, anyone. ), but new gear for the casual guys too. With the Season 2 sets purchasable with regular honor points, we should see many more regular players running around with Tier 5 equivalent gear and guild progression should pick up a bit. We economists know what new gear means! The demand for enchants, cut gems, leg armor and spellthread will be on the rise. So it’s time to start hoarding for a week or two while we wait for Season 4 to roll around.

I just started on a new server about a month ago so I’ve been working hard on earning as much gold as I can to stock up on the materials needed to buff all the new gear that’ll be floating around. It’s probably not safe to buy out the AH, but definitely watch the trade channel and keep tabs on auctions throughout the day. Try to snag as many deals as you can on all of the high-end materials needed for the gear buffs mentioned above. Just hoard em until Season 4 starts and sell at your discretion. On an unrelated note, I’d like to apologize for the lack of updates lately. Will, our main writer, has been very busy lately and hasn’t found the time to post. I’ve been working on some exclusive tools for WoW Economist readers (yea, that’s you!). They’ll be in their beta stage in the next week or two, so keep your eyes peeled. In the meantime, I’ve got a lot of ideas (with the help of your suggestions) for new articles so I’ll be sure to write more often. If you’ve got any ideas for a post, just leave a comment below and let me know so I can take note of it. " "If you're playing the auction house, you are already on the right track to making a good amount of gold in world of Warcraft. You may already be making a good amount of money. Or you may be a broke newbie looking for a way to make some gold and get that awesome level 7 gear at the vendor. Gold is the backbone of world of warcraft. Without it, it'd just be killing for honor, and ganking on newbs... Hm that doesn't sound too bad either, lol. wow gold But if you want good gear, a mount, an epic flying mount, and all the other fun potions and spells that go along with the game you're going to need gold.
A lot of gold. And even though it's really EASY to make a LOT of GOLD in the auction house a lot of players are still too lazy to take the 5 or 10 minutes everyday to list their items in the auction house. It's not hard to meet these players, all you have to do is talk to people in the chat rooms or in the main cities... Just ask people if they usually sell their stuff to the vendors or in the auction house. wow gold If they say to the vendors cause they don't like waiting for the money or they're just an idiot or whatever, ask them if you could start buying all their green/blue/purple items for double what the vendor pays. Tell them they could see what the vendor will give them, and then COD it to you, or save some and trade at designated times. Then you'll have 2 times as many greens to sell in the ah, and a lot more profit. Auctioneer NPCs can be found in in Orgrimmar, Undercity, and Thunder Bluff for Horde players. Alliance players will find Auction Houses in Ironforge, Stormwind City, and Darnassus. wow power leveling These Auction Houses are linked together for each faction. Horde and Alliance players cannot buy or sell items to each other unless they use the neutral Auction Houses listed below. Ask a guard for directions. mp3 players The three non-faction based Auction Houses are located in Gadgetzan, Booty Bay, and Everlook. Sellers are able to place items up for auction, set a starting price, set the auction duration, and include a buyout price by speaking with an Auctioneer. All auctions will be initially charged a deposit fee. wow gold The deposit fee is refunded upon the successful sale of the item. All successful sales are charged an auction consignment fee which is extracted directly from the final sale price. All fees are higher in Gadgetzan. wow gold Buyers are able to search through items up for auction, place bids, and purchase items that include buyout prices by speaking with the Auctioneer. Players are not able to place bids on items being sold by a character on their own account " .

Auction House Principles, part 1

"Here are a few basic pointers that are crucial to your understanding of the World of Warcraft Auction House: 1. The Cut: the inter-faction AHs located in Goblin cities take a 15% cut of the final selling price. However, since you should only be using these to transfer gold between your alliance and horde characters, this is largely irrelevant to being an investor. The normal AHs take a 5% cut of the final price. That means that if you sell an item for 100g, you will only actually “get” 95g (the AH takes 5g). An easy rule of thumb is that for every 20g of the final selling price, the AH takes 1g. It is very important to keep this in mind when following advice here, as margins can often be quite small. For example, let’s say you buy a Living Ruby for 60g, cut it into a Runed Living Ruby and sell that for 62g. You would actually be losing 1g10s if the Runed Living Ruby sold. Why. Because the AH took a 5% cut of 62g which is 3g10s while the price difference with the Living Ruby was only 2g. 2. Auction Duration: The AH gives you a choice to select the duration the auction will remain until it expires and is returned to you via mail. The three options are 12, 24 and 48 hours. For the vast majority of auctions that are not listed very late at night, 12 hours should be sufficient for it to sell. The deposit price increases with longer times and will only be returned to you if the auction sells within that time. The AH in our experience is a volatile market and while it is easy to predict in both the short and long term, it can be difficult between the two. What does this mean.

It means that if I check auctions at 7pm, I can give you a reasonable conjecture as to how much a given item will be selling at in 3-4 hours based on the current trend and I can probably make, based on the evolution of the game, a decent estimate of what it will be selling at in a month or two but it is difficult for me to say anything accurate about the next 2-3 days or 2-3 weeks. What’s the jist of that wall of text then. List your auctions for 12 hours, at prime time, and if it fails to sell, relist it again for 12 hours. The exception here is for items that have very low deposits relative to value or no deposit at all (example: enchanting mats). You can go ahead and list these for 24 or 48 hours and if you decide to cancel the auction and relist it, you don’t lose a single copper. 3. Pricing: You see 5 Large Prismatic Shards selling for 100g and the lowest price of an individual shard is 25g. You move quickly to buy the stack of 5 and relist them individually in the AH, a strategy that is discussed elsewhere in this blog. What price do you list them at. 22g. No. wow gold 23g. Fail more, nub. You list it at 24g99s99c because it will sell just as rapidly as if you listed it at 1c. wow gold This is the law of pricing that we recommend you to follow religiously. Always undercut by 1c. Period. " "Inscription is the new profession in Wrath of the Lich King and has been mentioned numerous times over the last six months. wow However, we never really knew what materials were required for this new craft. Until a few days ago… It seems Herbalism is the complimentary profession to Inscription.
To inscribe spells or scrolls, ink is used. wow gold Obtaining ink is much like Prospecting for gems - you crush five herbs using Milling for one (or more. ) ink. From what I’ve heard, the first three low level inks (Ivory Ink, Silver Ink, and Earthen Ink) require the first three low level herbs (Peacebloom, Silverleaf, and Earthroot respectively). I can only assume each successive herb is used for it’s own color/type of ink. This is going to be huge for the herb market! Mining is primarily used for Blacksmithing, Engineering, and Jewelcrafting while Herbalism’s only major profession is Alchemy. mp3 player Inscription is Herbalism’s new best friend in the expansion and we will see a significant rise in herb prices, especially in the first few weeks. I’d estimate 5-10x in the first few weeks (especially for the lower end mats, not so much the higher end ones), and slowly drop down to 2-3x current market prices where it’ll likely remain. I’ve got six “storage bins” ready for herbs, so I’ll be stocking them up like mad over the next many weeks. According to my girlfriend, Wrath is scheduled to launch November 3rd, so we have plenty of time to buy all the herbs our little bank alts can hold without artificially inflating the market and overpaying. I still cannot understand why Runecloth costs so much. wow gold For Rep, you can do any quest for any major faction and get 10% of the rep for all the major factions. I rerolled from the US to the EU servers about six months ago and was exhalted with all the alliance factions at level 37. Now my human rep bonus did help but still, a full days playing for a level 70 and you can get to exhalted with ease. and doing it gets you rep for all the factions"
