Enjoy Simple Stories
These days I had been studying difficult english vocabularies to prepare for the STEP Test (The Society for Testing English Proficiency) and also I had studied academic contents from Linguist Library deliverately.
Although I am not sure if that is the exact reason or not, my brain has come to reject those vocabularies somehow since yesterday.
What should I do?!
Then, I remember the SSS Extensive Reading Method .
SSS stands for Start with Simple Stories and Enjoy Reading.
They say lower your level of readers when you get tired to read or you found the book was boring.
So I studied short and easy contents from Linguist Library today.
I found I felt comfortable to read them and really enojoyed reading itself.
I also rememberd that Steve was saying the same thing in his discussion group the other day.
To read writing samples which are written in easy English at the Linguist Community Blog is useful in learning English.
Now I realized how important it was.
時にはやさしく楽しく
最近英検準１級に向けて難しい語彙の勉強ばかりをしていました。
The Linguistでもちょっとアカデミックな内容のコンテンツばかり読もうとしてみたり…
それでなのかどうかわかりませんが、何だか頭が拒絶反応を起こしちゃったのか、最近文章を読んでいてもすんなり頭に入ってこないのです。
同じところを目は何度も行ったり来たりしてるのに中身が脳に入ってきません。
う～ん。。。
そこでＳＳＳ多読法を思い出しました。
やさしいものをたくさん読むというあれですね。
その中でも、疲れたときにはレベルを下げて読む「パンダ読み」というのがあったのを思いだしました。
それで、今日はLinguist Library から短くてやさしそうなものをたくさん読みました。
時にはこいうのも必要ですね。

明日から実家に１週間ほど帰ります。
故郷にはわたしのだ～い好きな大型書店があるので今から楽しみです
昔から外国人の多い町なのでお店の半分近くが洋書なのです
