Americas Study says omicron strain first appeare
According to data released by Johns Hopkins University at 10:21 P.m. Wednesday, the total number of confirmed cases in the United States was 7,044,222, with 865,310 deaths. Fourteen states reported at least a 10% drop in diagnoses compared with the previous week, but 26 states reported an increase of at least 10%.
Traces of the omicron strain of the novel coronavirus have been found in wastewater from New York City on November 21, 2021, ABC news reported on Monday, citing a traceability study released by the CENTERS for Disease Control and Prevention. On 26 November 2021, WHO classified this strain as a variant of concern and named it Omicron. On December 1, 2021, a traveler who had returned to the United States from South Africa on November 22 of that year was confirmed as the first case of the omicron strain in the United States. In the United States, researchers also found evidence of the omicron strain in wastewater samples from California and Texas in late November 2021.
