I first heard of this trilogy, by Jonathan Stroud, last year when the third book (Ptolemy's Gate) won the Cybil for Science Fiction/Fantasy. I noticed the Bartimaeus trilogy. Because, you know, this is an amazing book. When he musters the strength to summon the 5,000-year-old djinni Bartimaeus to avenge Lovelace by stealing the powerful Amulet of Samarkand, the boy magician plunges into a situation more dangerous and deadly than anything he could ever imagine. I guess it could best be described as a prequel, although not in the sense that it is creating back-story to lead into The Amulet of Samarkand, the first book in the trilogy. The Amulet Of Samarkand (Bartimaeus Trilogy, Bk. I can only imagine that the trilogy will get better. Before we get into the reviewing i'll tell you a little summary of the book. The author painted a picture in my mind of an age where My only real complaint would be that I don't have the other two books in the trilogy, so I can't finish it. Seriously, at this point I was already wondering if he was going to be tasked with stealing it. He is also betrayed by his master, Underwood, who doesn't defend him when Simon Lovelace Comes to get back his Amulet. I thought that it sounded interesting, then promptly forgot about it. The story revolves around nathaniel a young wizard full of revenged in his mind.
