Many styles of music cross over between categories, such as blues/rock, ambient/techno, and opera/classical. In addition, taste and personal preference can "color" an answer, causing a respondent to classify a song he or she likes into a category they are comfortable with, while categorizing a disliked song into an unfamiliar category.
Finally, I've found a lot of misconceptions about categories of music. Jazz is a good example, denigrated by newer generations for including what we always called "easy listening".
IMHO it should all be "music", and we should leave the categorization to the retail music stores.
