Accessing Sharepoint sites using Microsoft Office 2016 April 29, 2016 rtrouton Leave a comment Go to comments As part of rolling out Office 2016 for my shop, I noticed that Office 2011’s Microsoft Document Connection application was no longer included with Office. Microsoft Document Connection enables you to upload multiple files to the SharePoint platform on a Mac. Warnings Some SharePoint features are only available when using the Internet Explorer browser.

This one is for all the Mac users out there; if you haven’t figured out how to do this you’re in for a treat. I’m not going to lie to you, not being an experienced Mac user made this much more difficult than it probably should have been. Anyways, if you’re using a Mac syncing with your SharePoint site through OneDrive isn’t really an option as this functionality isn’t available. However, there is a way to sync your SharePoint site with your Mac without using OneDrive which will allow you to upload, edit, and save all your changes without ever having to login to SharePoint.

On your Mac, in the upper right-hand corner click the Spotlight. Type Microsoft Document Connection and click Microsoft Document Connection. Microsoft Document Connection application will open, click Add Location. From the drop-down click Connect to a SharePoint Site 5.

In the Address: field type your SharePoint site URL, in this example I will type my root site. Click Connect. When asked to authenticate, type your SharePoint username and password.

Click Connect. After a few moments, your SharePoint site will be connected. On the left hand-side of the screen under SharePoint you will see your SharePoint URL you entered. Test it out, if you update any document from your SharePoint site on your Mac it will be updated once saved.

However, some of the information there may not be accurateor just confusing. So I will try to make it clear in this post Here’re some questions I collected during the past months, and the answers to them are based on my experience, not official support statement: Can Mac users use SharePoint 2010? Of course yes. Both Safari and Firefox are supported browsers of SharePoint 2010 because of the introduce of XHTML 1.0 in the product. The limitations can be found in.
