/edit update/ since this comment I discover the Colombian drama (on Netflix) titled Pablo Escoar El Patrol Del Mal (see review below) --- wish we'd get a Pablo story that focused more on his rise to power: Narcos first episode or first half of Scarface -- his political ambitions or being on-the-run has been covered so much already. Also, no offense to Javier Bardem (or Benicio del Toro) they're amazing but too many Pablos already (El Chapo, Narcos, Blow, American Made, Escobar Paradise Lost) and NONE of them will compare to Wagner Moura. Lastly, I mean, Penelope Cruz? She was already in a Pablo related role in Blow.. I mean, every time she appeared in the trailer I kept seeing Jung's crazy wife lol. Amazing movie cast but horrible casting and poorly timed/poorly audience-sensitive script. Hey, I hope it's great and I'll watch it cuz the subject matter AND actor, but such weird production design choices. --- /edit update/ re: Pablo Escobar El Patrol Del Mal While it's still mostly focused on his later life, he does dedicate a solid 5-10 episodes to his rise to power and even has a few of him when he's young and also more as just a smuggler -- it's kinda low budget, not the best acting overall, but the main characters are well done, and it shows a more funny (and bad) side to Pablo, a much more flawed character -- probably cuz it's made in the country that he actually terrorized and not nearly as romanticized as Western sources -- plus it's on Netflix and there's a gazillion episodes so it's perfect daily 'drama at dinner' watching haha.
