先日Victoria's Secretのショーにゲストアーティストとして招かれたりと、ノリノリなHarryですが、もちろん私生活のほうもノリノリ。弱冠23歳にして相当のプレイボーイです。
今回の曲Kiwiは、後先考えずに遊びまわるMr.プレイボーイと、一人の女性について歌ったもの。なんでもこの曲名のせいで、ライブで歌うとステージに大量のキウイが投げ込まれるんだとか。キウイ農家も大変です。

歌詞の中で"she goes home to a cactus"と出てきますが、cactus：サボテンを使ったメタファーでしょうか。
サボテンは砂漠で育つもの、つまり主人公と彼女とでは住む世界が違うということが言えます。
また、サボテンは水が必要のない植物、つまり彼女は家に帰ってサボテンのように水すら口にしない生活を送っているのでしょうか。まるで外の自分に疲れたかのように。
あるいは単にサボテン好きなだけかもしれませんが。
あまりに長くなってしまいそうなので、訳の方では直訳に近い感じで訳してみました。
ところでこの曲、なんでタイトルがキウイなんでしょうか。一通り訳してみてもキウイとの関連性は見いだせません。
