12月に入ってから、前回ご紹介したアドベントカレンダー以外に毎日楽しんでいることがあります
Since the beginning of December, there is something I'm enjoying everyday other than the advent calendar I told you about in my last blog.
それが、こちらのエルフくんです
It's this elf!
みなさん、このエルフ知っていますか
Do you all know about this elf?
"The Elf On The Shelf"という本と一緒に楽しめる、エルフなんです
This is an elf you can enjoy with the book called "The Elf On The Shelf".
毎年サンタさんはいい子にはプレゼントを、悪い子には石炭をくれます💡
Every year, Santa Claus gives presents to children who were good, and coals to children who were bad.
でも、どうしてサンタさんはいい子にしていたかそうでなかったか知っているのか分かりますか
However, do you know why Santa knows if you've been good or not?
その答えがこの"The Elf On The Shelf"の本に書いてあるんです
The answer is written in this book!
12月になると各家庭にサンタさんの使いとしてエルフがやってきます
In December, an elf is sent to your home as Santa's little helper.
そして、初めてエルフが来た日には、まずエルフに名前をプレゼントしてあげるのが決まりです
The first thing you have to do when the elf arrives to your home for the first time is to give the elf a name
このエルフ、日中は子どもがいい子にしているのか見ていて、夜になって子どもが寝るとサンタさんのもとへ飛んでいって報告をしているのです
This elf checks to see if children are being good during the day, and flies back to the North Pole to report back to Santa at night.
朝になるとサンタさんのもとから帰ってきたエルフが家のどこかに隠れているので、起きてからまず家中を探すのが子どもの役割となります
In the morning, the elf will be hiding somewhere in the house once he's back from Santa. So, it's the children's duty to look for him once they wake up.
ここで大事なのは、エルフには決して触ってはいけないということです
The important rule is that you're not allowed to touch the elf!
エルフに触れてしまうとクリスマスマジックが消えてしまうんです
Once you touch the elf, he will lose his Christmas magic.
我が家のエルフは男の子のエルフくんなので、娘がTomと名付けました
The elf that came to our home is a boy, so my daughter named him Tom.
毎朝起きたらすぐにTomを探し、隠れ方が面白いと笑っています
Every morning, the first thing she does is look for him, and laughs if he's hiding somewhere funny.
朝から笑えるなんて、やっぱり素敵ですよね
Don't you think it's so nice to be able to laugh from the morning?
娘には絵本も毎晩読んであげているからか、すっかりTomの存在を信じてくれて、
Since I read the book to her every night, she believes the story of Tom, and tells him
「○○ちゃん、今日お友達におもちゃ貸したよー！」
"I let my friend use the toy I was using today!"
「○○ちゃん、ママにおやつ1つあげたよー！」
"I gave mummy one of my snacks!"
など、良いことをするとすぐにTomのもとへ行き、サンタさんに言ってもらえるように報告しています
and everything else good that she did, so that Tom can tell Santa.
その姿が本当に純粋で、可愛くて、ほっこりします
She's so innocent and cute that she makes my heart so warm.
そして、娘が寝た後にTomをどこに隠すか考えるのが意外と楽しくて、私もすっかりハマっています
It's actually quite fun coming up with places to hide Tom once my daughter has gone to sleep. I'm also into him!
