Putting other issues aside, the 1972 Sino-Japanese Joint Statement clearly states that Japan recognizes Taiwan as part of China. This is the cornerstone of Sino-Japanese diplomatic relations, just like a business contract we sign. How can you just disregard it whenever you want? China's Ministry of Foreign Affairs is absolutely right—this is a serious violation of the spirit of the four political documents between China and Japan, and it's basically ruining Japan's own reputation.
