とりさんのエプロン（またはオムツ）Chicken Apron (or Diaper/Nappy)

うちのとりさんたちは今室内飼いなので、鳥のエプロン（またはオムツ）をつけていました。

Our chickens used to wear an apron (or be in nappies) so that I can keep them inside the house.

最初は手縫い、次にはコンピュータ・ミシンを購入して（アスペルぶり発揮！）

色んな材質、色やデザインで、手入れが楽な究極のニワトリエプロン（または
オムツ）を作ろうとしてきました。
賢いミシンのおかげで、縫い物大好きになりました。

I have been trying to make an ultimate chicken apron (or nappy) with various materials, colour and design. I was sewing aprons by hand in the beginning, and then – call me an asperger – bought a computer-sewing machine. I really love sewing now thanks to the intelligent machine.

ところが、いくつか問題があることがわかりました。。。

オピはほとんど毎日たまごを生みます。
ニワトリのたまごとウンチは、同じところから出てくるんです。
エプロンをしていると、たまごもウンチと同じ場所に入ってとどまるので、
長時間放置された場合、卵の殻にうっすらシミがついて洗っても取れません。

衛生上問題がありそうです

However, I got to know there are some problems with the idea. Opi lays an egg almost everyday.
U might know, but chicken eggs and poops come out from the same place. The egg and poop stay in the same place when the chick is wearing an apron. The eggshell has poop stain slightly if they are left together for long hours. It may be a hygenic problem.

テレビのように、朝起きたらたまごを生んでくれている、ということは
一度もないです、これまでのところ。いつかわからないけどオピは昼間に生んでいます。
たまごが出来るのに25時間以上かかるらしいですね。
ですから毎日同じ時刻にたまごを得られないそうです。
5日生んで、一日休むらしいです。
オピは生むタイミングになると、ジャンプして自分で巣ごもりします。

三十分くらいかかるみたいです。

So far I have never found an egg in the nest in the morning like we used to watch in tv. Opi lays an egg sometime in the afternoon. I've heard that egg formation takes longer than 25 hours. Therefore you will never get an egg at the same time every day. Hens take a break once every 5 days, they say. Opi jumps into her nest by herself when the egg time comes. It takes half an hour, it seems.

私が長時間自分の部屋にこもっていると、母がわたしに
「何してたの。たまごでも生んでたの」とよく聞いていました。

なぜそういう表現をするのだろう、と思って笑っていましたが、
母は鶏の習性を知っていたのですねえ。
それとも昔、鶏を飼っていたのでしょうか。
それとも、韓国文化特有の表現かも知れません。

　

My mum used to ask me, "what have you been doing? Have you been laying an egg or what?"
when I was doing something in my room by myself for long hours. I was wondering why she uses such an expression and laughing, but maybe she knew about chicken disposition. Or she might have kept chickens when she was a little girl. Or, it might be a Korean unique expression.

慣用句を直訳で使用して、通じなくて笑いをとるひとがいますね。

　
たまごをうむ、という表現は英語にありますが、まったく意味が
ちがいますねえ。

There are people who translate phrases/idioms which are cultural/area origin into otherlanguages, which also nobody understands and people laugh at her. There is the idiom in English but the meaning is totally different.

たまごを生む

言葉通りでは、オールドレッドがたまごを生まなくなったので、日曜日の夕食に彼女をシチューにした。

ひどい例文だね　。(´д｀lll)

1. Lit. [for a hen, etc.] to deposit an egg. Old Red stopped laying eggs, so we stewed her for Sunday dinner.

oooo terrible example.

2. Fig. [for someone] to do something bad or poorly; to perform poorly on stage. I guess I really laid an egg, huh? The cast laid an egg in both performances.

やりかたがまずいこと、ステージで下手な演技をすること。
今日ぼくはほんとにたまごを生んだよねえ。

よくわからない表現ですね。

I don't understand this expression.

あるドイツ人が英語で、
「君、それはまるでズボンの片方に両足を入れることだよ」
と真剣に言うので、何それどこの表現、と日本人にはわからないので
皆で大笑いになりました。　ヾ(＠^▽^＠)ﾉ

ズボンを片方ずつはく、という表現は英語でも一般的みたいです。
人間は誰も同じ、と言いたいときに使う表現らしいです。

A German guy said in English, 'Hey, it's like you are putting
your pants on two legs at a time' quite seriously. We Japanese
people didn't understand him and said 'what the?' and laughed.

But it seems like the idiom is valid also in English.
the idioim "put your pants on one leg at a time"
means whoever is just the same as you are.

ズボンの片方に両足を入れる、という意味は何でしょうねえ。

特別な人間になろうとしている、という意味でしょうか。　
批判的な意味があるのでしょうか。

What does 'Put your pants on 2 legs at time? ' mean?
Someone is trying to be special?
Does it have negative connotation?

ドイツ語の慣用句で「誰かに碁盤の石を持つ」という表現があります。

　
"bei jmdm. einen Stein im Brett haben"　
Du hast bei seiner Frau einen Stein im Brett.

君は彼の奥方に対して碁盤の石を持っている＝君は彼の奥方のおぼえがめでた(^∇^)い
なんとなくわかりますね。勝つ手を持っているってことでしょうか。

there is a german idiom; you have a stone to someone in the chess board.
You have a stone to her in the chess board = you have a good impression on his wife.
You get the idea. You have got the next hand.

ドイツ語辞書にも載っている慣用句ではありますが、
使ってみると現地で通じませんでした。

This idiom is in the dictionary, but
some German speakers didn't understand this expression.

エプロンをつけていないと、きれいなたまごが　

　
巣のなかに落ちているのを発見できます。
Without the chicken apron you can find a clean egg in the nest.

巣のなかにある生みたての暖かいたまごを握るのは感動です。

この瞬間がすきなので、エプロンはやめることにしました。　
It feels really nice to grasp the warm fresh egg in the nest.
So i quit using the chicken apron cos i love the moment.

となると床掃除が大変ですけどもね。

　
メピは卵を生まないつもりらしいので、オムツ実験はメピだけにしようと思います。

　

Cleaning the floor is the disaster, tho. Mepi is not gonna lay eggs in the future, so i will keep going on with the diaper experiment with Mepi.

次なる問題は、素材でした。
ナイロンなど通気性の悪いものだとおしりかぶれを起こします。
ウンチがかなり高温で湿度が高いですので。

犬のはるっぴも、実はオムツ生活をしているのですが　

おしりかぶれもなく、自由に歩きまわって幸せに暮らしています。

そのお話はまた後日。

The next problem was the material. Nylon does not let the air go thru and its bad for skin and feather, cos poops have high temperature and humidity.

Our dog Haruppi has been in nappies actually but her skin and hair are fine, walking around freely and is very happy now.

I will tell you the story later on.
