Clyde has trouble sitting still, yet when he gets very excited he turns into a monkey—a very energetic monkey. His sister Claudia tries to help him stay a boy and protect him when he becomes a monkey. But he still gets into plenty of trouble. Now the school’s principal is carrying around a big butterfly net so she can catch the monkey she’s seen running around the school. Clyde is especially excited on “Class Picture” Day, because he wants to see who’s going to mess up the picture this time. Guess who the culprit is this year? He and Claudia steal the camera disc so they can destroy the evidence of Clyde’s transformation. At one point, while he’s a monkey, the school bully, Roz, challenges Claudia to show the monkey at the local pet show the following weekend. Roz is sure her bulldog, Chopper, will win the show. But when they get to the show, Chopper, Clyde the monkey, and lots of other pets are stolen and shoved into cages in a big warehouse. The thieves plan to sell the animals for lots of money. Fortunately, Clyde is able to steal the keys and free himself. When he gets home, he feels guilty about not freeing the other animals. He sneaks into the building to let the pets free and Claudia brings the police. All’s well that ends well—except for Clyde’s turning into a monkey again when the class picture is retaken.
