Distribution: Primarily found in Saga Prefecture; occurrences have also been documented, albeit extremely rarely, in Fukuoka and neighboring prefectures.
The plant bears dark purple flowers positioned close to the ground, which is characteristic of the genus Asarum. The calyx tube is somewhat cylindrical with a significantly constricted neck, and the inner surface of the calyx lobes is covered with short hairs. The leaves are matte (lack luster) with slight short hairs along the margins, and occasionally feature white clouded variegation.
