Hello, I’m Annzu Mammy who is raising 6month old baby using my second language, English.

1month before the baby was born, she was diagnosed as low body weight and I was placed in a hospital.

The day before giving the birth to her, he doctor told me that she might not have more than 2000g and if she was under 2000g, she needed to transfer to the larger hospital right after her birth.

T made me really worried.

The next day, the healthy 2400g baby girl arrived to my family.

She was larger than we expected with large first cry!

At this moment, both baby Annzu and Annzu Mammy was born.

It was the beginning of my parenting with English.

So far, I am enjoying every process of being mammy, no serious stress nor depression.

Now, here is today’s mail point.

Don’t you get shy or feel embarrassed when you speak to your baby in your second language?

Sometime, you feel awkward and don’t feel just right like you couldn’t put enough emotion and feeling on to the words using your second language.

I was feeling this way although I’ve talked to my students in English over 7 years.

Then, my friend from UK who happen to have a baby girl 1month younger than Annzu told me a great idea!

It is

To use a stuffed animal and have it speak English instead

Here comes Annzu’s best friend, Rabbi-chan.

I asked this stuffed bunny to speak to Annzu in English.

This way, I don’t have to feel shy or embarrassed

The words can be simple and easy since the talker is just a stuffed toy

I used it for a couple of weeks, but after that I felt comfortable using English without the toy.

If you are trying to use your second language to raise your baby, using a stuffed animal to get use to might be a great idea!

That’s it for today!

Love,

Annzu Mammy
