THE DEBT FREE CAR. . . . No........I'm not selling my car. Nor did I buy one. But it just got a 2 hour ultimate detail treatment!  I take great pride in my vehicle and try to take care of it because it's one of the most financially draining things I own.  It's been paid off since last year and my goal is to have it for at least 20.  A lot of people post pics of cars they just bought.  I hate buying new cars (or used, for that matter). There are so many costs built into a car - insurance, personal property taxes, gasoline, maintenance...plus it's a huge risk just driving around.  When you get into the realm of luxury vehicles (which get the most oMg! likes, etc.) you are just getting silly.  I look at luxury cars like a huge pile of debt that will never be paid off.  Best of all, this vehicle has been getting me at least 42 miles per gallon for most of this year.  The longer I can keep it in excellent shape, the more it will help stop a hit to my net worth.  A car is not a symbol of "goals," or freedom or being cool.  It's a depreciating asset and a hassle that requires constant maintenance. Furthermore, it be damaged by any person at any time thus lowering the value even more.  The only reason I bought this 2015 Honda Fit was because my last car was totaled when a women pulled out in front of me.  Earlier this year, I took it to Merchants to have a simple oil change and tire rotation.  They damaged the car and this took hours of phone calls and emailing to get fixed.  While sitting in parking lots, it gets scratched by careless people and while driving on the highway, huge dump trucks spill out rocks chipping the paint and cracking the windshield.  Honestly, I don't understand what all the fuss is about cars. . . . . #debtfree #debtfreeliving #debtfreelifestyle #personalfinance #hondafit #white #car #auto #automobile #detailed #detailing #financialfreedom
