”O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the city that kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to it! How often would I have gathered your children together as a hen gathers her brood under her wings, and you were not willing! Behold, your house is forsaken. And I tell you, you will not see me until you say, ‘Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!’”“
‭‭Luke‬ ‭13‬:‭34‬-‭35‬ ‭ESV‬‬

O. It’s not often that we see Jesus as distraught and lamenting. But He truly wants the best for the people of Jerusalem. For although He makes note that they kill their prophets and those sent to them he desires to gather them. Here is a case where Jesus uses a motherly metaphor. Of a hen having her chicks under her wings.

A. We can often be pushed aside and here we Jesus was pushed out of Jerusalem. I should be wise as Jesus was to move as needed and to and yet still want to be a loving protector who cares for others. Jesus does later fulfill the prophecy of His triumphant return.

P. Dear Jesus you are the one who desires to be with us and to hold us near. May I be wise to know when and where it’s right to move if either being pressured or not. Please also help me to follow in your example of love even if it’s frustrating and others hate us.
