How to Make a White Sailor Hat

If you are going to dress up as a sailor for Halloween, for a class play or presentation, or to play a role in a theatrical production, you can accessorize the costume by making a white sailor hat. Although you can buy a sailor hat from a costume supply company, you can save money by making a white sailor hat from a sheet of white craft paper. By folding the paper in certain ways, the paper can be transformed into a usable sailor hat.Fold a sheet of large craft paper in half, width-wise. Press the fold to make a crisp seam.

Arrange the folded paper so that the folded edges face upward.

Fold each of the top corners over so that they meet at the bottom center. This will create a triangular top. Press the folds to make crisp seams.

Fold one of the bottom edges up, pressing the fold into a crisp seam.

Turn the hat over, and fold the other bottom edge up, pressing the fold into a crisp seam.

Tape the folds into place if desired using clear packing tape.

Open up the bottom of the white sailor hat, and place it onto your head.
