今日, I made すし with the Japanese Club at school. It was fun. I had a great time. (^∇^)

I'd never had sushi before, so I got to eat it for the first time too. We made crab(?) rolls, spicy salmon and tempura shrimp. I think we actually made 巻き寿司. I don't really like shrimp, but the てんぷら turned out to be my favourite! (・∀・)

It was also nice to meet new people. I talked with a girl named Emily, who also liked some of my favourite bands and dramas, and a guy from 大阪市 named Taichi. He seemed surprised that I knew about the different kinds of お好み焼き and 関西弁. Truthfully, I like 広島市 style okonomiyaki best. ('-^*)

Today was fun. I am very much looking forward to more Japanese Club events. p(^-^)q

ごめんなさい. I have neglected this blog for a long time, mostly because I have been busy with school and very forgetful. ( ̄っ ̄)

Here is a picture of the 餃子 I made on Friday. They looked sad, but they were rather yummy. I was fairly pleased with the overall result- instead of my usual recipe, I added some chinese cabbage in too. (・ω・)

School-wise, instead of learing 日本語 this year, I am learning German. 日本語 did not fit into my schedule, unfortunately, so I will have to wait until the summer. The German course is hard, mostly because I have been unable to get the CD-rom I need. It frustrates me because I have to keep waiting.

Still. I try to be postive and fistair about going to 福岡市 in the summer to study. There are so many things I want to do and see! And I cannot wait to learn Japanese. It will be nice to understand more than hiragana and katakana. (o^-')b

今日 I made チョコクロ.

They were delicious.

Although some had appendages...

Yesterday, I made 焼肉 style mushrooms for lunch!

焼肉 is fairly easy to do, once I figured out how to make the marinade. Basically, you combine apple sauce, みりん, 醤油, sugar, pepper and maybe a dash of salt. That's it! The BBQing part is easy, although with the differences in dining approaches between 日本 and カナダ means you can't BBQ at the table indoors. ( ̄っ ̄)

They were similar to those we had in the restaurant in 広島市, only I think the restaurant used a slice of pork belly(?) instead of the bacon we have here in カナダ. I used えのき茸, which I think are not in season, so I had a hard time acquiring them.

Overall, I think I prefer 焼肉 with beef (especially 和牛! o(^▽^)o) , rather than mushrooms, but it was nice to see if I could replicate the recipe for those as well. (・ω・)

This is a picture of me at the Starbucks in 原宿 (past 表参道) on 6月 29日, my last night in 日本. I had my hair cut that day at a place near アメーバスタジオ. I still haven't emailed the hairdresser to say あり がと う , though. (>.<)

I wish I could go back to 日本 sooner! I had a really good trip. カナダ just doesn't compare, at least the area where I live. So, in the meantime, I found a program for postgraduates that has not just language but also cultural/artistic courses that is somewhat affiliated with my university here:

九州大学

If I can manage to do some work in the start of next summer, then it is a possibilty for me to do, particularly if I want to focus on Asian art for some of my research! (^-^)/

In 日本 I should have bought some "health sandals" at Tokyu Hands in 池袋, but I completely forgot. ( ̄っ ̄)

However!

I found a website that not only has them, but also futons!

JLife International

I will have to check into this further. For now, I am going to トロント on 8月 18日 to go to Ikea and Vaughan Mills, where there is a good store to buy Asian dishes and other items. I am excited for that, since I need some cute little bowls and dumpling plates, in addition to a desk so I can finally set my office desk up for the upcoming year.
