I think attitude is very important. Not only our attitude to others but also attitude towards our own situation. Giving the right attitude to a not-so-good situation can make a world of difference. Anyways, below is an excerpt of someone's blog post that I just read.

A customer sat staring sullenly into his drink. "Something wrong?" asked the bartender.

"Well, two months ago," the young man replied, "my grandfather died and left me $85,000 in oil stock."

"That doesn't sound like something to get upset about," said the bartender.

"But last month, my uncle passed away," the young man continued. "He left me $150,000."

"So why are you sitting there so unhappy?"

"Well, this month so far, not a cent!"

Perhaps he had not read Horace's words about how to be happy:

Happy is the man and happy is he alone,
He who can call today his own.
He who is secure within can say,
'Tomorrow do thy worst,
for I have lived today.'

Today is all we have, really. Now is the best time to choose happiness.

as i was taking shower earlier, i thought about my conversation with my friend last night. she told me that she was afraid.. something about what the future will bring her.

but well, everyone is, to some degree, scared of that. anyways, i was reminded of the quote "What doesn't kill us only makes us stronger."

that quote is quite encouraging eh. it's somewhat giving us a push to keep on going in life whatever it may bring us.

it's of course easier said than done. but i shall keep reminding me that.

i've been wanting to write an entry on this. i was just thinking that time really flies us by.

i still remember the time i first went to US for college and how i found it weird that people only use forks to eat. i (well, i guess asians in general at least) was used to using both a spoon and fork. but now, unconsciously, i actually feel perfectly fine with just fork alone.

hmm.. what else? oh yea and i remember i went to KFC to get some food and the person was supposedly asking me "for here or to go?". but i can't quite grasp what he was asking the first few times he said that. but don't worry, i finally got what he meant after he repeated it 3 times or so. lol. but now, i kinda feel that "to go" actually sounds nicer than "take away."

anyways, i guess that's just one of the differences between british english and american. just like "servie... *what*"? (serviette) vs. napkin. HEHEHE. and um.. maybe rubbish bin vs trash can.

i also miss the convenience of having a car. whenever i feel hungry, just get to my car and vroom, i get my food. while here, whenever i feel hungry, i have to gather up every bit of my energy to fight the heat and humidity outside. back in US, i also like to drive around when i feel stressed or something and trust me that's a really good remedy. just drive around aimlessly while listening to some good music. you'll feel better.
