Downtown library

I studied in a downtown library on Saturday.

I was planning to stay there until 6:00 p.m. but decided to study at a coffee shop instead.

When I went to the library, I was surprised to see so many homeless people sleeping in the library.

A security officer woke a homeless up and asked him if he was not drunk.

When I went to the bathroon, it was not clean.

So, I did not want to stay in the library any more.

The weather in this Midwestern city is very cold, and probably homeless people do not have other places go.

I was shivering when I moved to a coffee shop from the library.

I was glad to have a cup of coffee and a cookie in a warm place.

Writing

I am busy writing my dissertation in a study roon at the university library.

This is a final exam week, so the library opens until 1:00 a.m.

The sky is white today.

We are supposed to have rain or snow.

I am planning to visit San Diego over winter break.

I will be happy to visit a warmer city.

Finals

This is the last week of classes in my university.

Students will take final exams next week.

I am trying to work hard for my dissertation so I can show my progress to my advisor before winter break begins.

I am glad that it did not snow today.

I am tired of snow.

I want to move to a warmer city.

Lack of exercise

I wonder if yesterday's parade was cancelled because of the heavy snow.

It is not snowing today, but it is so white outside.

It is pretty to see snow on trees and roofs.

I am finally getting well.

I am sorry for my body because I did not walk a lot when I had a cold.

I am in the library working on my dissertation now, so I do not think that I will go for a walk or work out today.

Parade

There will be a Christmas parade in downtown tomorrow.

According to tonight's news, the parade will be shorter than usual because we will have snow again.

I want to see the parade, but I will not go there due to my cold.

My nose is red like reindeer.

Speaking of reindeer, I saw deer in front of somebody's house.

I've heard my friend's story that she saw deer in the interstate highway,

but this is my first time to see deer on the street.

I often see rabbits and squirrels around my home.

They must be hibernating now.

Laptop computer

I checked out a laptop computer and wrote my dissertation in the library.

It is convenient that students can check out laptop computers for four hours in the library with a student ID.

I wonder if most American universities have that system.

I am still sick, and my nose is running all the time.

I had a difficult time to sleep at night because of my severe sore throat last night.

Chicken noodle soup

I have a cold and am very tired.

When American people are sick, they usually eat chicken noodle soup.

When I had the flu, my friend fed me chicken noodle soup everyday.

I don't like to eat chicken noodle soup when I am not sick, because the soup reminds me of sickness.

Similarly, my friend does not like Sprite, 7-up, or Sierra Mist because that type of soda reminds him of sickness.

Summer clothing in winter

It was warm today, so I walked to a grocery store.

It will be cold tomorrow. I hate cold weather.

Even when it is snowing, I see some American students wearing half sleeve t-shirts in classes.

I was surprised to see them when I started to live in the Midwest.

I also noticed that nobody carried umbrellas when it is snowing (or raining).

Anyway, becauase I tend to wear too many for Americans all the time, many people like to make fun of me.

Thanksgiving Day

I enjoyed the Thanksgiving holiday yesterday.

Each guest brought different food, and I ate a lot...

(appetizer)

- sliced cucumbers, radishes, and green peppers with Ranch dressing

- sausages

- cheese and crakers

(main dish)

- turkey

- mashed potato

- potato casserole

- green been casserole

- cranberry sauce

- salad

- a role of bread

(drink)

- mix berry soda

(dessert)

- a thin slice of pumpkin pie

- a thin slice of blueberry pie

- a thin slice of cherry cheese cake

I was so full that I could not eat a meal at night.

Pinecone

Tomorrow is Thanksgiving Day.

I made a turkey decoration for tomorrow.

I used a long pinecone for a body.

I glued a small pinecone on the body using a glue gun for the first time.

I glued eye balls that I got at a craft store.

I cut orange, yellow, brown, and green paper and made thurkey feathers.

I glued a lot of feathers on the body.

I blued a yellow bill.

Then, I wrote, "Happy Thanksgiving" on a small sheet of paper.

Lastly, I glued the sheet under the pinecone turkey face.

The pinecone turkey looks silly, but I like it.

I hope people at the Thanksgiving celebration will like it.

I am excited to see the other people's works.

I am going to bring a veggie tray tomorrow, too.
