Japan adopted updated UNECE regulations

1. Japan adopted the following UNECE regulations on 07.10.2022:
1-1) UN-R154.02 and .03
The PN criteria apply to gasoline-fueled direct-injection motor vehicles with a gross vehicle weight of 3.5 tons or less and diesel-fueled vehicles with a gross vehicle weight of 3.5 tons or less.

1-2) UN-R13.12
Regarding the automatric operation of electric parking brakes fitted for vehicles used exclusively for passenger use with a passenger capacity of 10 or more, and vehicles used for transporting cargo, the following requirements will be added .
[Requirements] 
・The parking brake must be automatically applied when the vehicle is detected to be stopped and any of the following conditions are met.
(a) the ignition/start switch is off or the key is removed;
(b) When it is determined that the driver has left the driver's seat by detecting the opening of the door or the release of the seat belt, or when there is no operation by the driver for more than 30 seconds on the bus.
・The automatic operation may be canceled by the driver's operation.

1-3) UN-R125.02S1
Regarding the Forward visibility of vehicles used for transporting cargo with a gross vehicle weight of 3.5 tons or less, the same requirements as those for passenger cars, etc. (vehicles used exclusively for passenger use and with a seating capacity of less than 10 people) shall apply.

・The allowable range where the field of view is blocked by the A pillar
・Prohibition of installation of shields in the driver's left and right 180° and fixed vertical viewing range

2. A TRIAS procedure has been updated as follows:
Among vehicles with a gross vehicle weight exceeding 3.5 tons (excluding vehicles exclusively for passenger use with a passenger capacity of less than 10 people), the fuel consumption rate and power consumption rate of electric vehicles, electric plug-in hybrid vehicles, and fuel cell vehicles Establish test methods.
