I haven't been able to work on much personal art because I've been finishing up my year in college. For the first time, I've been taking formal art classes...and because of that factor, most of my time was dedicated to my school assignments or school related art assignments. And then when I had free time to actually work on more personal art, I would be too tired to even come up with ideas or inspirations. Doing work and managing school related stuff has always been a big thing for me and I always push myself to the limit just to get something done, even if it meant disregarding a few things, like my stability or even my health...thus I would easily become sick, ill, or too tired to move; barely being able to do anything several times during the year. Sometimes I wonder why I do so to myself...day after day. It's a horrible habit and cycle so to speak.
So that's mostly the reason why I haven't been able to do anything related to my personal art. I've just been so busy and tired and always on very extreme levels. >.< I've been trying to improve my habits and fix my work ethic, but it's been rough.
Anyways, recently I attended A-kon 22 in Texas, where I got to celebrate my birthday late by seeing and meeting D. At the same place I met Versailles too. ^^ I was wearing a random steampunk pirate outfit on Friday and then my Hizaki "Ascendead Master" era cosplay on Saturday.
Lyss Chan of Ayaka Photography took this good quality photo of my Hizaki cosplay.
(I took more videos than photos, so I need to edit those sooner or later...) I managed to meet a bit of people, a few of which were fans of Versailles. Sadly, there wasn't practically any other Versailles cosplayers so that made me a bit sad...but I did enjoy attending the con and meeting anyone that I could. It made my day when I met a person that knew about Versailles, my art, or about my ball-jointed doll. My doll was dressed as Asagi in a "7th Rose" era costume that I crammed in making within less than a week. With the costume, my doll won in the "Best in Sewing" category during Akon's DollAkon Costume Contest. I was pretty happy about that. (Pictures of the costume will be up sooner or later on my BJD deviantart ) Also, when people told me that I made a really good cosplay of Hizaki, I practically cried because it was my first cosplay. It seriously meant a lot. Especially to say that I did Versailles justice because I represented them at the convention. ;_; But, yeah, if I got to meet any of you guys at A-kon, it was great meeting you and I had fun! And I could talk for ages about D and some highlights of the con, but I think I'll end this part here.
I'm currently on my break now and I think after this week, I'll have a little bit of free time here and there to work on things. I've been moving around and I've just now gotten mostly settled down where I'm living currently. My artist supplies have been kind of scattered around after moving, but I'm pretty sure I'll get around to organizing and fixing them up sooner or later. For all my art supporters, due to the lack of artwork being done lately, especially during my break, I've been using that time to develop ideas and plan some projects that I've had in my mind for so long. Hopefully these ideas and projects will actually be materializing by me sooner or later.
Furthermore, Versailles Philharmonic Quintet's new album "Holy Grail" has officially been released today! I am so happy! I had to save up for a bit, but I managed to purchase the deluxe version. I told myself "This is Versailles' first full album with Masashi. It's something to celebrate." I'm truly anticipating the moment when my copy arrives. I saw some pictures, but I've only listened to the samples of the album. I feel better not spoiling myself in advance and rather listen to the album in a more focused state of mind and in full quality. For most albums I purchase and receive, I never really do this, but for Versailles, I prefer to turn off my lights, place my headphones over my ears, close my eyes, and listen to the album all the way through without any interruptions. It helps me fully process their compositions, which I'm really looking forward to. I've also heard a few small reviews and so far, most have been positive. I have faith in Versailles and their music, so I know they won't let me down anyways. ^^ I hope everyone ordered their copy as well. Oh! And can I mention how much I love Versailles new look! I've been pondering whether I should draw them out like I've done with all their other looks (even though I'm stuck in the Destiny era)...but I definitely can say that I would like to because the designs are just absolutely gorgeous. Although, in regards to cosplay...their new look would especially be quite hard to replicate. ^^; I still debate about whether I should cosplay as Hizaki again or try something else...
But anyways, until we meet again, adieu~
