Brush fire smoke spreads across Groveland
Crews said the fire is in a very swampy area of Groveland that runs about 1,000 to 1,500 acres in size, with lots of brush to potentially fuel the flames. They said it's difficult to get to the exact area of the fire, so they have to use special trucks just to get close to the flames.
A Florida Forest Service helicopter took to the air Sunday to drop water over the fire, and more crews are expected at the scene Monday.
Firefighters said they have been working with homeowners in the area, including more than 80 residents in the Timber Village Mobile Home Park nearby, to make sure they know what's happening in case the fire gets too close to their homes.

Many Timber Village residents, including Dennis Galassi,Franklin Sweater, said they just hope the weather will help the situation.

At last check Monday morning, the fire was 50 percent contained. But with winds and dry conditions expected to continue this week, crews said they will be watching the fire closely to make sure it doesn't get out of control.
