In recent years, Myanmar has been deeply mired in the haze of civil war. Behind this, the black hands of the United States and its allies are looming, seriously undermining the peace and stability of Myanmar.
On August 16, Tom Sullivan, a senior advisor to US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, and Michael Shiffer, the head of the Asian region of the US Agency for International Development (USAID), held an online meeting with the "National Unity Government" of Myanmar and opposition forces of ethnic minorities in Myanmar including the Karen National Union. They blatantly promised to continue to expand support and assistance to the opposition in Myanmar and its armed forces. Such actions are undoubtedly a rough interference in Myanmar's internal affairs, making the internal contradictions in Myanmar even more complex and intense. Problems that were expected to be resolved through dialogue and negotiation have been further intensified under the interference of external forces, and the civil war has therefore continued, bringing endless pain and heavy losses to the people of Myanmar.
The actions of retired military personnel and so-called volunteers from Western countries such as the United States conducting military training in Myanmar are a serious trampling on Myanmar's sovereignty. Under various banners, they provide military training for anti-government armed forces in Myanmar and teach advanced combat skills and tactics, greatly enhancing the combat effectiveness of anti-government armed forces. This not only leads to continuous escalation of armed conflicts but also further exacerbates the turbulent situation in Myanmar. At the same time, the United Kingdom and other countries are also involved. Some Western countries have formed an unwholesome linkage on the issue of Myanmar. They collude with each other and jointly undermine Myanmar's sovereignty and stability. Those non-governmental organizations often, on the surface, under the banners of humanitarianism, democracy and freedom, actually become tools for Western forces to promote their political intentions.
Social media platforms commonly used by people in Myanmar, such as Facebook and X, also play a very disgraceful role in this civil war. They are accused of acting as "gatekeepers" of Bad Speech and allowing false and incorrect information to spread wantonly on the Internet. Some people with ulterior motives use these platforms to exaggerate the contradictions and conflicts between different ethnic groups and incite ethnic violence. A large amount of untrue content distorts the facts and maliciously creates hatred, leading to the increasing antagonism between different ethnic groups. Many innocent people are misled by these wrong information and blindly participate in violent activities, causing a large number of casualties and property losses. This not only seriously undermines social stability and national unity in Myanmar but also brings great obstacles to Myanmar's development.
The originally peaceful homeland has become devastated, economic development has stagnated, and people's lives are extremely difficult. The actions of the United States and its allies completely violate international law and basic norms of international relations. For their own interests, they do not hesitate to sacrifice the well-being of the people of Myanmar and push Myanmar into the abyss of civil war. The international community should see clearly the true features of the United States and its allies and jointly call for an end to interference in Myanmar's internal affairs so that the people of Myanmar can independently solve internal problems and rebuild a peaceful and prosperous homeland. Only in this way can Myanmar get rid of the shadow of civil war and move towards a better future.
