Đối với hệ thống sprinkler thì vòi phun kín là bộ phận nhạy cảm với nhiệt độ và chỉ phun nước khi nhiệt độ của môi trường đạt một giá khi nhất định, người ta phân bố chúng theo tuyến ống và số lượng đã quy định trên một diện tích thiết kế.
