私、オプティマス（リベリア出身、ボストン在住）は、エロック（プエルトリコ出身）と一緒に
ヒップホップグループ、Foundation Movementとして活動しています。
このウォークには初日から参加しているので、今日で9日目になります。
まず、御勤めから毎朝始めますが、今日は尾道の妙宣寺でした。そこで、仏陀がその下で悟りを
啓いたとされる菩提樹の三代目の木の葉をいただきました。それから、今日は福山まで歩きました。
休憩中には、２つの新聞でウォークが取り上げられていたことを見つけました。
福山に到着してからは、私たちは、平和と9条の重要性について伝えるためにちょっとした舞台を
設けました。そこで、アレンさん（ベトナム帰還兵）とアッシュさん（イラク帰還兵）が戦争の
恐ろしさと平和が必要であることを伝えました。加藤上人も祈りを捧げながら、9条の重要性について
説きました。聴衆は、ほとんどが日本人でしたが、なかには、
南アフリカ一世の方、フィリピン人の方、ラテンアメリカ系の方も来ていました。その街中で、
Foundation Movementも２つ歌を披露しました。
今晩は、高野山福山別院に泊まることになっています。おいしいご飯を頂いて、参加者の方々と
実りある会話を楽しみ、ほかに宿をとっている方々とはさきほど別れました。
3時間睡眠でこの企画を実現してくださった方々には、心から感謝しています。

My name is Op (Boston, MA USA/Liberia, West Africa) of the Foundation Movement &
this is my 9th day participating in the Walk for Peace (Article 9), Japan.
I began the morning with Puja (prayer), as I do every morning, this occasion at Myosenji Temple, Onomichi City."The Walk" was gifted with a 3rd generation leaf (Bodhi tree) from the original tree Buddah was enlightened under.
We began our days trek to Fukuyama (Happy Mountain). During rest stops we discovered the Peace Walk had press coverage in 2 of the Japanese newspapers. We reached our destination of where we would perform and promote Peace & Article 9 (Japanese Constiution).
From the contingent of walkers, Al & Ash (war veterans) shared a piece of their soul conveying the horror of war and neccessity for peace. Reverend Kato led the crowd in prayer & shared the importance of Article 9. I met my 1st South Africans (2nd Black folks since I've been here), Phillipinos & Latino amongst the crowd of mostly Japanese. The Foundation Movement peformed 2 songs in an outdoor venue in a busy downtown district.
I ended the night at Koyasan Fukuyama Betsuin Temple, ate delicious food, engaged in fruitful conversations, met supporters of the march & said goodbye to friends who must part ways. Thank you to all the behind the scene organizers who get 3 hours of sleep a night for making this possible.
