पहली निजी कंपनी स्काईरूट एयरोस्पेस द्वारा विकसित ऑर्बिटल-क्लास रॉकेट ‘विक्रम-1’ का प्रक्षेपण किया गया।
इसी उपलब्धि के साथ भारत निजी क्षेत्र की कक्षीय प्रक्षेपण क्षमता वाले चुनिंदा देशों में शामिल हो गया। रॉकेट में लगी मोटर को कलाम-1200 का नाम दिया गया, जिसने उसे जमीन से उठने में मदद की।
विक्रम-1 के साथ भेजे गए पेलोड में कॉसमोसर्व स्पेस का ‘एम्ब्रेस’ मिशन शामिल है। इसका उद्देश्य अंतरिक्ष में मौजूद मलबे को हटाने की क्षमता का परीक्षण करना है। इसके अलावा, ग्राहा स्पेस का ‘सोलारस’ भी भेजा गया। यह एक कॉम्पैक्ट उपग्रह मिशन है, जिसे पृथ्वी की निचली कक्षा में नई तकनीकी क्षमताओं के प्रदर्शन के लिए बनाया गया है। कंपनी के अनुसार, स्काईरूट एयरोस्पेस का ‘स्कोप’ उपग्रह एक आंतरिक प्रायोगिक पेलोड है, जिसे भविष्य के अंतरिक्ष अभियानों में उपयोग होने वाली प्रौद्योगिकियों के परीक्षण के लिए बनाया गया है। जर्मनी की कंपनी डीक्यूब्ड के परीक्षण पेलोड ‘यूडी3पीपी’ और ‘एमडी3आरएन’ भी अंतरिक्ष भेजे गए हैं।

The project also reunites her with Satya (1998) co-star JD Chakravarthy after 27 years.
