銃撃事件；アラバマ州
2024.09.23のFOX NEWSを聴いていたら次のようなセンテンスが聴き取れた。
「Gunmen opened fire on a crowd in Birmingham, AL. at least four are dead, several more are wounded.」（アラバマ州バーミンガムで、武装集団が群衆に発砲。少なくとも4人が死亡、さらに数人が負傷。）というもの。
詳細では、
「This happened in Birmingham's Five Point district. It's got a ton of Bars, restaurants, and it's typically very popular over the weekend while police say that multiple shooters began shooting into a crowd of people just standing on the sidewalk. And today we're learning that one of the victims who died was likely targeted by the shooters, according to police. They believe that someone may have paid money to have that victim killed.」

例によって、聴取りなので句読点は分らない。が、しかし、トランプ氏暗殺未遂事件の
発生等「銃使用の犯罪がなくならない事」に加え、今回は「金を払って銃撃を命じた人がいるのではないかとの疑いがある事」が表面化するなど、米国社会における治安の問題点を浮き彫りにしているのではないだろうか…。
