Ambient Musicという言葉がある。かれらSigur Rosはそのジャンルに分類されるが、彼らの音楽はそれを遥かに超越している。ただ単なるヒーリング音楽ではなく、彼らは音で｢葛藤、怒り、情、悲しさ、喜び｣など人間の心理的な部分を表現するからだ。
2002年彼らは｢（ ）｣というアルバムをリリースした。
その中に収められていた楽曲、｢Untitled #1｣はとても印象的だった。
なぜなら、この曲は人間心理がふんだんに盛り込まれているからだ。
悲しみ、不安感、心の叫び。そしてそれらとは矛盾する安堵感や喜びなど、とてもよく表現されている。そこに彼らの素晴らしい音楽知識、そして人生経験の豊富さ等がうかがえるのではないか。
また、このアルバムの面白いところは、楽曲は全てにUntitled（＝無題）という題名が付けられているところだ。これ自体がとても芸術的で美しい。それに伴い、聞く者に自分たち制作側のアイデアを押し付けず、リスナーが自分で曲を分析し想像理解できるように配慮したところに私は｢粋｣を感じずにはいられない。
The music of “Sigur Ros” is categorized as a genre of ambient music. Their music though cannot be expressed with the word “ambient” because it is not just an environmental healing music, but their music expresses human’s psychological feelings such as anger, conflict, sadness, happiness, and so on.
In the year 2002, the group released the album called “ ( ) ”
One of the song called “Untitled #1” must’ve given the strong impact to the listeners.
The song perfectly expresses a mixture of people’s feelings – not only sadness, anxiety, and cry, but also happiness and comfort as well.
The most interesting about the album is that all the songs are named “Untitled.” This is very artistic and beautiful. Naming of the songs in this way would, as well, prevent from giving the creator’s selfish ideas and impression to the listeners. Without the name, they can analyze a situation of a song on their own
