When I was still a boy there wasnt any game console readily available. The only way to play game was to play it on a PC. That's how I started my gaming career
and I must admit to this date playing PC games is still my preferrence if I had
an option to choose.

Playing games on PC is much more personal than playing it on TV. You cant
sit near a TV but you can stick your nose up to the computer screen. With a TV
there would be no privacy or whatsoever when you play. However, on a PC,
everything is PERSONAL. You see what I mean? I suppose the PC gaming experience
on a whole is much richer than playing on TV.

But then playing on PC is expensive. A good gaming rig was expensive especially
when it comes to a laptop. Meanwhile a playstation costs only a fraction of a
typical PC. Granted you can do a lot more with a PC but then again nobody
would surf net when playing games. I guess this is the reason why gaming laptop
(or PC) was never in the mainstream and the price level has always been
prohibitively high to deter anyone who are interested in PC gaming from actually
buying the PC game rig.

Not anymore. I just discovered that the latest Intel HD Graphics (built in
GPU) handles modern games very well, compared to the built in graphics chipset
in the past.

I have bought myself three games. Tombraider - Anniversary, Tombraider -
Underworld and Resident Evil 5. Below is the DEMO of Resident Evil 5 on my
notebook. Resolution at 1024 x 640, with every graphics option set to OFF or
low. However the OVERALL PERFORMANCE tab was turned to MEDIUM.

The video clip is blurry because of my camera. The game looks sharp and crisp
on screen and it plays as smooth as the video clip shows. Of course, the
FPS never went above 30 in the DEMO and in actual game play, but I guess you
can determine the game is playable or not. To me, the game is very playable
although the verdict is a D. I tried to reset resolution to 800x600 and the FPS
was constantly above 30 most of the time.

What I am trying to get at is that with the Intel HD Graphics the hurdle to
3D gaming has been considerably lowered. It is a bless to buy a laptop with
Intel HD Graphics knowing that while it wont provide the best gaming experience,
it would give every laptop user a fair chance of playing modern 3D games, without having to resort to special game rig that costs so much more than a normal
spec laptop.

I have also tried both tomb raider title and they were as good as the RE5.
Will post the video clip next time.

Have a good day!
