東日本大震災のニュースにカナダの人たちも皆ショックで、心が痛みました。
そして地震直後から色々な支援活動が行われました。
生徒達、先生達、コミュニティーが一体となって自分達に今何ができるかと問いかけ、たちあげたいくつかのプロジェクトを紹介します。


カナダのブリティッシュ・コロンビア州（西側）の日本語教師会（NIHONGO BC）ではお互いにアイディアを話し合い、応援しあい、千羽鶴を折ったり、ファッション・ショーやタレント・ショーを開催したり、募金集めをしたり、いろいろな支援活動をしました。
400万円以上がカナダや日本の赤十字に送られました。

HOPE LETTERSというウェブサイトでは、生徒が書いたメッセージがボランティアの人達によって日本語に訳され、被災地に届けられました。
心のこもった 4000のメッセージがウェブサイトでも見られます。

生徒達が折った千羽鶴をStudents Rebuildという特別なプロジェクトに送った学校もあります。
こちらのプロジェクトには世界中の人から送られた1,000,000羽の折鶴が集まり、4千万円寄付されました。

Fukushima.


For many of our students the words *Fukushima* and *nuclear disaster* have become an unfortunate “set”.


The song by the Inawashiroko'zu “I love you Fukushima” inspired me to create a resource that would engage students with Fukushima beyond the nuclear power plants they have been hearing of so often.


My hope is that this resource will stimulate positive discussion about Fukushima through authentic materials.


It will also introduce them to some common encouraging phrases used in Japanese so that they can “cheer” Fukushima/Japan on.
