It was with much sadness that I heard the news of the Tsunami catastrophe which has affected so many Japanese people. It is difficult to imagine the anguish and despair that is being experienced by those who have lost families and friends and the sense of irreparable loss which follows such a life-changing disaster. My deepest sympathy goes out to all of those whose lives have been touched these truly awful events and I hope that they will all find the strength and fortitude to rebuild their lives and look forward to the future. At this time I am thinking also of all Japanese dancers whose lives have been darkened by these terrible events and I hope that the fellowship of Scottish Country Dancing will bring some light and happiness back to their lives and give them hope for the future.
多くの日本の皆様が影響を与えたこの度の津波による大惨事の知らせは、私にとって大変な悲しみでありました。人生を大きく変えてしまった大災害により、ご家族やご友人を失った皆様は私には想像できないほどの苦悩と失望感を経験されたことでしょう。大震災の被災者の皆様に心よりお見舞いとお悔やみを申し上げますとともに、未来に向けて不屈の精神で力強く人生を立て直されることを祈っております。私は今、大惨事を経て沈んだ気持ちのなかで過ごされていらっしゃる日本のダンサーの皆様のことを思っています。スコティッシュカントリーダンスによる親交が明るい光となって、楽しみをもたらし、皆様が将来への希望を持って下さることを心より願っています。
Maeve Mackinnonさんからのメッセージ
I am delighted to be performing at The Scotland Festival in November 2011. It will be my first time in Japan and I am really looking forward to visiting the country and participating in the festival. My deepest sympathies go out to everyone affected by the recent earthquake and tsunami and I hope that Japan is able to build back up from the devastation with the help of its people and solidarity from other countries".
11月のスコットランドフェスティバル2011でパフォーマンスの機会をいただけること、大変光栄に思っております。今回は私にとって初めての訪日であり、フェスティバルに参加させていただけることをとても楽しみにしています。先程の大地震とその後の津波でお亡くなりになられた方々に心よりお悔やみ申し上げますとともに、被災された皆様に謹んでお見舞い申し上げます。また日本が国民の皆様の団結と諸外国との連携により大震災の荒廃から復興されますことを願っております。
