７月１５日、フィリピンのロドリゴ・ドゥテルテ大統領は
ダバオの麻薬取締局で、フィリピンの麻薬王の一人と疑われる
実業家のピーター・リム氏と面談した。

犯罪に容赦しない姿勢を示しているドゥテルテ大統領は
この面談で「処刑するよ、始末するよ」と発言し
リム氏に麻薬から手を引くよう警告した。

リム氏は、自分は大統領が言った中国系フィリピン人で
麻薬密売人のピーター・リムとは別人だと主張した。

しかし大統領は
「謝るつもりはない。君は麻薬王だと疑われているからここにいるんだ」と言い返した。
大統領との面談中、リム氏は違法薬物への一切の関与を否定する一方
1997年に麻薬関連容疑で捜査を受けたことは認め
犯罪撲滅運動への協力を誓ったという。
