『初めに、Sir Richard Bransonとは？、会うことになったきっかけ、ネッカー島とは？、来ている人たち、次へ続く』
『初めに』
一言で言うと僕は「答えを見てしまった」。
人間が頑張って到達できる頂点は間違いなくここにあった。今回Richardさんのプライベートアイランドに行けたことは素晴らしいことだし、僕にとっては一つの夢が叶い、そしてあらたなスタート地点となり、最終的にたどり着くのはここなんだと思った。ここは最高のスタート地点であり最高のゴールでもある。
そんな奇跡の島へ行って、見て、感じて、学んだことの一部を少しだけここに書いておこうと思う。
『Sir Richard Bransonとは？』
世界のビジネスマンで知らない人はほぼいない。ステーブジョブス、ビルゲイツと並ぶ世界三大起業家の一人である。始まりは16歳の時にStudentという雑誌を創刊したこと、その後中古CD屋を趣味で始めたらうまくいってVirginレコードを立ち上げる。瞬く間にヨーロッパの超ビッグレーベルになり最終的にはEMIに売却。その後不動産事業やVirgin Airという航空会社や最近では宇宙開発などもやっている。世界中の一流起業家との交流も深くテスラのイーロンマスクやFacebookのマークザッカーバーグ、Air Asiaのトニーフェナンデスなどと仲がいい。またエックストリームスポーツも大好きでskydivingやカイトボードなど様々なことをガッツリやっている。
ここまではwikipediaにも書いてあるような情報。僕的にはメッチャおもろいオジサマって感じ、紳士でユーモアに溢れて謙虚でフレンドリー、そんでビジネスマンとしても一人の男性としてもこれ以上ないくらい成功している。まさしく尊敬に価する人物だと思う。あ、因みに名前の前についている[Sir]は英国で偉業を成し遂げた人に王妃から与えられるナイトの称号。まー半端ないよね、なかなか貰えるもんじゃない。
『会うことになったきっかけ』
実は2014年にMaiTaiGlobalという団体がやっていたExtreme Tech Chalenge [XTC]というstart-upコンペに参加していたんだけど、これ最終選考でTop3に入るとRichardさんのプライベートアイランドで彼に直々にプレゼンできるという特典付きだだったんだよね。全部で3000社近くの応募が世界中からあり僕の【S】はTop500まで残ったんだけど残念ながらその先は進めず、また来年頑張ろかなと思っていた矢先、XTCの関係者から連絡が入り、Top３以外にRichardさんが興味のある150人の起業家を世界中から招待するという話が舞い込んできた。マジで！って感じ、しかも情報は殆どなく、参加したければチケットとホテルを抑えたら連絡して＆水着は忘れないで、の一言。全く何をするのかもわからない状態w
でもね、人生でこんなチャンスってないと思った、これ行かないで後悔するより行って納得する方が絶対に良いと思った。もちろん周りの後押しもあったけど実際は即決で次の日にはチケットもホテルも全部手配して行く準備を猛スピードで開始した。
『ネッカー島とは？』
セキュリティの関係上ネットに出ている程度のことしか書けないけど、これはRichardさんが個人で所有してる島。そこには招待客しか来ることは出来ず（年間数回ホテルみたいに予約できるけど数百万かかるのと審査があるらしい）パラダイスと言われて想像するあらゆるものが揃っている。海も見たことないくらいに綺麗だし島全体が動物園のようになっている、実はこれ絶滅危惧品種を保護している。場所はヴァージョン諸島の外れ、、、まーこの世に天国があるとするならここだなって感じ。
『来ている人たち』
今回はMaiTaiの関係者が30人ほど、XTCのほうで100人ほどのいい感じのサイズだった。みんな世界中から来ていて大体が前日に近くのリゾートに泊まって前夜祭してから当日ネッカー島へって感じ。因みにMaiTaiの関係者はほぼ全員プロのカイトボーダー、すげーかっちょいー、マジあんな仕事最高だなって思う。他の方々も本当にすごい起業家だらけ、もう3回エグジットしてエンジェルになっているような人もゴロゴロいたし、先月xx社に$xxxMで会社を売ったけどもう次の会社も始動してるとか、なんかね、頭の良さとエネルギー量の高さが半端じゃない、ドラゴンボール的に言うと一人一人がフリーザーくらい凄い、ただRichardさんがスーパーサイヤ人3くらい凄いから皆んな目立たないけどw
因みに僕はこの中ではクリリンくらいだな、と思ったw まーOne of the 雑魚キャラですよw でもね、地球人ではまーまー強い方なんだけどね、相手がわるいよね。

Things I have learned and felt meeting with Sir Richard Branson

[First of all]
In one word, “I have seen the ultimate goal”
The ultimate point where human could get was here. It was a great experience to be at Richards private island, one of my dream came true and now it is a new starting point for me. But interestingly enough, I feel that this is the goal as well, were I am reaching in long future if I ever could.
I would like to note some of the things I have felt, learned and experienced at this island of miracle.
[Sir Richard Branson]
I guess most of you would know his name, Just like Steve Jobs, Bill Gates, he is one of the top 3 entrepreneur of the world. He started a magazine called “Student” at the age of 16 and then moved on to a second hand CD store which eventually turned in to Virgin Records. He sold the record company to EMI and established a real-estate firm and also the well known Virgin Air. Recently he is working on space travel and other amazing projects. He is also in very good relations with top notch world entrepreneurs and loves extreme sport.
This is what you would find from wikipedia, for me, he is a super gentleman with great hummer, friendliness, and humbleness. He has a great success in business and also as an individual man. I truly respect him and feel honorer to meet him. [Sir] comes from the British kingdom tradition, he was granted the title of “Night” from the princes as he have made incredible achievement though out his activities.
[The opportunity]
This great opportunity came from a event called “Extreme Tech Challenge (XTC)” run by MaiTai Global. The prise was that you could present your startup in-front of Sir Richard Branson if you make it to the top 3. There were over 2,000 applications and my project [S] made it up to the top 500 but unfortunately did not make it further. I was thinking that it was a great experience anyway to be part of it when I got an invitation mail from (XTC) saying that Richard would like to invite 150 entrepreneurs from the world to his island to join the final. I was thrilled, I had not much info, it just said, "contact us once you got your flight and hotel and don’t forget your bathing suit”.
I thought, this kind of thing does not happen much in your life time, so why not just go and figure it out myself. I got the flight ant ticket the next day and started getting ready for the trip.
[Necker Island]
For security reasons I’m not going to say much about it but it’s an island on British Virgin Islands and Richard owns it. You have to be invited to be there and you will find everything what you would imagine as a paradise. The beach and water is unbelievably beautiful and there are some unique animals living on the island just like a family.
[Attendees]
We had around 30 people from MaiTai and about 100 from XTC, a good size to get to know each other. Everyone was coming from around the world and they typically got in few days before and stayed on the surrounding resorts. Many of the people from MaiTai were pro kite borders and they looked sooooooo cool. I wish I had that talent. Others were also amazing, some of them have already existed their company several times and half an angel investor, some of them just sold the company to a huge xx corporation for $xxxM and already working on his new amazing project. I would say that the level & the quality of the energy was extremely high. As a metaphor, everyone was a “Jedi” and of cause Sir Richard was “Yoda”.
Well, I would consider myself as an apprentice. Probably not so bad as an apprentice but “I still have much to learn”.
Oh, it’s getting bit long so maybe I’ll cut it here for today and wright the rest in few days.
