After Sigur Ros’ absolutely phenomenal set last night in San Francisco, a handful of us (about 25 at the most) were waiting outside near the buses. We expected they’d just come out, shake hands and sign our shit, etc. But instead, part of their crew showed up and said “Sigur Ros would like you guys to come to the after party!” Of course we were all like oh my god!!!
We got wristbands and made our way back into the building and into a side room. There was a great DJ, food and drinks. The band and crew were just milling about at first, but eventually we started dancing. Jonsi went absolutely bonkers. Let me tell you, the guy has the energy of a… hell I don’t even know!
After dancing for a while I went and talked to Georg, the bassist, for a moment. I shook his hand and explained how SR was one of the artists who inspired me to start learning music. He was so happy and hugged me tightly. Sadly, Orri was nowhere to be seen. :(
But then we all danced more. For like an hour. And then, when I realized we had to leave before the parking garage closed, I made my way up to where Jonsi was fooling with the DJ stuff, and thanked him for the amazing night. He hugged me tightly and said: “No you dance a bit more” and then he GRABBED MY HANDS AND PULLED ME ONTO THE DANCE FLOOR AND SPUN ME AROUND.
It was honestly the best night of my life, you guys. Hands down, no question. This band is something special. I can’t even explain how much respect and adoration I have for them. THANK YOU SIGUR ROS! *cries*
