Tara feels safe and secure with my hands?
タラは飼い主の手に安心感があるのでしょうか。
When Tara is on my hand, Ikura also comes... I know he is expecting something good!
タラが手に乗れば、イクラもどこからともなくやってきます。
何かもらえると思ってるのでしょうか。
I know Tara has got kind eyes.
タラの優しいまなざしが好きです。
Tara loves my hands.
As I wrote about it in this blog before, he loves crawling under my hands, sticking to my hands, and resting on my hands.
That’s why it didn’t take time for him to do “shake-hands” in our training sessions.
Well, I thought it would last forever, but recently I noticed a change in his behaviour.
Last month his moulting period started and around the same time he started avoiding my hand cave.
In Tokyo, the summer heat attacks us every single day after the rainy season is gone.
Tara still comes to my hands and has no problem with step up. He just avoids sticking to my hands, so I thought it was because of the summer heat.
You know, no one wants to be covered with hot hands in summer!
But he started coming to my hand cave a couple of days ago.
So... is this related to the moulting cycle, not the summer heat?
Actually I didn’t find many feathers left on the floor of his cage anymore.
Well, he’s not a perfect “sticky budgie” yet, but he gets back his passion to my hands...
Of course, it doesn’t matter, as he always shows his love to me with many other ways.
He responds to my call. He comes to me when I show my hand in front of him.
When Ikura is with me, he always comes to me to take Ikura’s position!
There is one more change in him.
When I get home from work, I always take a foraging toy from his cage.
When I’m doing it, he always comes to me and starts biting my hands. Okay, it’s not biting... it’s like he is trying to preen my hands, so I feel his love a lot.
I also scratch his head and then he looks very comfortable.
This is my favourite time to communicate with Tara, but I have to be careful.
Ikura always keeps watching us, so I don’t want him to be jealous!
以前ブログでも書きましたが、タラは手が大好きなインコです。
手の中にもぐったり、手にぴったりくっついてみたり、手のひらにちょこんと乗ってみたり。
だからこそ、トレーニングではすぐに握手もできるようになったのかもしれません。
じつは、そんなタラに変化が見られました。
先月、換羽が始まってたくさん羽が抜けたタラ。
ちょうどその頃からでしょうか、手にくっつくのを嫌がるようになりました。
梅雨が明け、連日の猛暑です。
手にくっつくのを嫌がっているだけで、いつも通り手の上には乗ってくれるので、この暑さで手の中になんてもぐりたくないのかな、と暑さのせいで手を嫌がっているのかもしれないと思っていました。
ところが数日前、手かまくらにもぐってきたではありませんか。
もしかして暑さではなく、換羽サイクルに何か影響しているのでしょうか？
確かにようやく羽抜けが落ち着いてきたのも数日前でした。
まだ完全なひっつきインコではありませんが、いつものタラに戻りつつあります。
もちろん、ひっつきインコに戻ってくれなくても、さまざまな反応でタラは愛情表現をしてくれます。
呼んだらお返事、手を見せて「おいで」とお誘いすればたいてい来てくれます。
先客（イクラ）がいれば、呼んでなくても来てくれますし（笑）。
そして、今回もう１つ変化がありました。
今まで甘がみされたことがなかったのですが、最近帰宅して、ケージに設置したフォレイジングトイを外すとき、必ずやってきて甘がみ。
まるで、一生懸命私の手を羽繕いするかのような、優しい甘がみです。
こちらもカキカキしてあげると、気持ちよさそうにしてくれるので、毎日この時間が至福のとき。
ただし、隣でイクラがやきもちを焼いているのがわかるので、あまり長いことやっているとイクラがへそを曲げてしまうので、注意が必要ですね。
