イエス、ジェネシス、キング・クリムゾンでの活躍からアースワークスやソロ作品、さらにはスティーヴ・ハウや井上鑑、渡辺香津美とのコラボレーションまでも網羅した"コンプリート・キャリア・コレクション"完成。
60年代末、イエスの天才ドラマーとして脚光を浴びた若きビル・ブルーフォードは、その後ジェネシスに参加し、1970年代以降は四半世紀にわたりキング・クリムゾンで活躍。
それ故にプログレ3大グループに在籍したドラマーとして広く名を轟かせたが、勿論彼のキャリアはそれだけにとどまらない。1970年代後半にはU.K.のメンバーとして、また自身のバンド、アースワークスを率いたり、数々のアーティストのセッションに加わったりとロックからプログレからジャズまで幅広い活動を続けている。
そのビル・ブルーフォードの半世紀にも亘るキャリアを網羅した6枚組CDアンソロジーが発売となる。
本作『MAKING A SONG AND DANCE: A COMPLETE-CAREER COLLECTION』は、彼のキャリアを年代毎のテーマで辿る作品構成となっている。
CD1&2のテーマは"The Collaborator"。彼が英国音楽シーンにその名を響かせることとなったイエス、キング・クリムゾン、UKそしてNational Healthでの活躍に焦点を当てたコレクションである。
つづくCD3&4のタイトルは"The Composing Leader"。ソロ・アーティスト作品と彼の音楽プロジェクト、アースーワークスの作品を集めたものとなる。そして最後のCD5&6は、"Special Guest &Improvisor"。
作曲家としてのビルに焦点を当てている他、ロイ・ハーパーや井上鑑、渡辺香津美、スティーヴ・ハウをはじめとする様々なアーティストとのコラボレーションが収録されている。
さらに本ボックスには、ビル・ブルーフォード本人による自身のキャリアを振り返ったバイオグラフィーを掲載したブックレットも収録。
未発表のものも含む多数のレア写真も注目ポイントだろう。
