Free tools for picture influence and written material in Linux aren't that tough to insight if you cognize where to look.
Here are my favorites:
Avidemux is a at large picture skilled worker planned for straightforward cutting, filtering and secret writing tasks. It supports oodles folder types, as well as AVI, DVD matched MPEG files, MP4 and ASF, exploitation a collection of codecs. Interestingly, it's easy for Linux, BSD, Mac OS X and Windows under the GNU GPL legal instrument. I haven't tried Mac OS X and Windows versions, but the system of rules runs impressive beneath Ubuntu Linux (Dapper Drake).
For wallet conversion, there's FFMPEG, which is free-but you'll have to learn to use it through the bid rank. Unfortunately, the MAN leaf for the program isn't highly pellucid.
To save several of you the preoccupy of figuring it out, here's a high-speed tutorial.
Let's say you poorness to convert a database called MYVIDEO.AVI to the mpg format, which is the formatting financed by the K3 CD blazing system of rules. After instalment FFMPEG (you can use Synaptic Package Manager), discharge up Terminal.
From the instruction line, journey to the brochure where on earth the report is kept. So you may well type:
cd /home/user/Converts
to go to the leaflet wherever the record is kept.
Then sort the next at the direct line:
ffmpeg -i MYVIDEO.avi -target ntsc-vcd MYVIDEO.mpg
and hit Enter. That should get the version system of rules started, and you ought to see whichever paper round shape by in the Terminal window. Don't accidentally button up the window, because that will lessen the change. You can lessen it, yet.
To person an avi report to SVCD format, you would type:
ffmpeg -i MYVIDEO.avi -target ntsc-vcd MYVIDEO.mpg
There's a GUI front-end for FFMPEG on Mac OS X, but I haven't found one for Linux.
For cacophonous DVDs, I use AcidRip. Very straightforward but meteoric and economic.
