今回は復習で「“hope”と“wish”の違い」です。
“hope”と“wish”の違い。
前回の“I hope と I wish の違い”で、「“hope”は可能」で「“wish”は不可能」と説明しました。
せっかくクリスマス・イヴなのでそれをサンタクロースを例に使いたいと思います。
例：「今夜サンタクロースがプレゼントを持ってきてくれるといいな～。」
サンタさんはいると信じてる人の場合：
“I hope Santa Claus will bring me presents tonight.”
サンタさんはいないと考えている場合：
“I wish Santa Claus would bring me presents tonight.”
もう一つは“hope”の時は“will”のような未来形もしくは現在形で表します。
“wish”の時は“would”などのように過去形で表わします。
私は“サンタさんはいると信じたい派”ですので
“I hope Santa Claus will bring me at least one present tonight. ”
でも
“良い子”にしていたわけではないので持ってきてはくれないでしょうｗ
“I'm sure he would not bring me at all since I was not being nice this year.” lol
